IPT Butt-kissing

This post will probably get some people riled up.

I realize the IPT could be a great thing (notice I said "could be")......more money for professional pool players, financial backing & stability, etc... Kevin T seems to have good intentions & seem sincere.

What I've noticed is a certain pool magazine doing some serious IPT butt-kissing. Every other article talks about the IPT: IPT this, IPT that. Kevin T, "Man of the Year". It just seems a little bit too-much, especially when the IPT hasn't been around THAT long. I'll believe the hype when I see the IPT proves itself over a longer period of time. (I've also heard/read concerns about the IPT from various people, so I would say not everybody's sold on it).

Anyone else feel this way?

Sadly, this is not the first time someone has kissed the owners butt of any corporation.

Get used to the butt kissing. The moment the IPT King of Hill is aired on prime time tv (if ever), then there will be more articles on how KT saved pool. When the North American Pool Championshs finishs there will be another story about the most money ever won in a pool tournament. Same thing after the World 8 ball Championship.

Yep I expect major butt kissing for at least a year or two before it is downgraded to minor butt kissing.

IPT Butt kissing

When someone starts throwing money around their butt gets kissed until one of the kissers finds out the kissee doesn't appreciate that or until someone finds out the kissee prefers something else to be kissed. Once enough money has been distributed for the butt kissers to be satisfied then complaints begin about the amount of money available, the condition of the butt to be kissed, whether or not a surrogate kisser may be used, etc.

Call it human nature.

I think the IPT is stupid because its an 8 ball format and I hate 8 ball. Aside from that, the big money is a good thing for the game.

But when it comes to saying that the IPT/Kevin Trudeau hasn't been around that long, well, thats true. But you don't have to be around for decades to be "Man of the YEAR"

Media tends to run with and bleed a good story as long as it can. It sells magazines.

And the IPT is the biggest news the game has ever seen.

As for the naysayers, while their intentions may be honorable, I don't find much substance in their dire predictions. It looks more and more like the IPT will deliver on its promises for the next 2 years at least, and even if it ended there, I don't believe that would mean distaster. It would mean that pool had become perceived as a high end sport, and that could be the seed for more ventures in the future.

*no, not wiping lips now* :p

Both Billiards Digest and Inside Pool have had great articles on the IPT so I have no idea who you are referring to.

I look forward to more of them.

Why would you call well written articles covering the IPT butt kissing? After all, it is what people want to read.
