IPT Jeopardizes 2006 US Open 9-Ball

It defies all logic and rationality that the IPT were not aware of the conflict with the Reno tournament and the US Open. Which leads only to the conclusion they did it on purpose.

What is next? Are they going to try to disrupt the Derby City as well by putting one of their tournaments smack dab in the middle of January?

This scheduling really undermines the IPT's credibility as the future of pool.

I dont see this happening since Diamond is the official table of the IPT.
Looks like Karma is gonna finally kick BB in the A$$.

They don't do internet forums. Didn't you know that? They think we're all a bunch of people down at the bar that have never accomplished anything, never will, and we can't rub 2 nickels together. KT's words, not mine. That's how he sees everybody in pool, including you, me, the fans, the players, The US Open. He's a modern day real life version of Bert Gordon.

I have to admit, I did smile a bit under the mask in amusement when you said that Mr. Blackjack. I do think, however, that likening Mr. Trudeau to Bert Gordon is being a bit overly complimentary to Mr. Trudeau. Bert Gordon was, in my opinion, far more crafty & a much better con man than Kevin Trudeau ever could hope to be on his best day.

I remember that Bert Gordon had a craving for milk. I would assume that Kevin Trudeau, being the supposed organic health expert he professes to be, also would have a similar taste for fresh milk. They also both share an extreme love of monetary riches & big-money items. Is that your basis for your comparison Mr. Blackjack?

Kevin Trudeau did make reference to "not having time" to check message boards in one of his audio message spiels. He also made the statements that you alluded to. It's my understanding that those messages are still available for public listening.

I do find it interesting that there's a link to AzBilliards on his website. If he thinks the IPT naysayers "who don't have two nickels to rub together & have never accomplished anything" as well as regular internet message board users expressing opinions about the game of pool are as objectionable as he stated, then why is there a link to an internet message board (this one) on his own website? Why promote something, even in a small way, that is so horrible & mis-leading in his opinion?

In the case of the pool tournaments I don't blame the players, they have to do what they have to do, although they are being robbed of another pay day.

I find this statement quite amusing.

Macguy if you were a top player (I dont know if you are or not) and was lucky enough to be on the IPT but your best mate (who is also a great player) never bothered to apply cause he thought it was a scam (like many others thought).

Q) What would you be saying to him now with the knowledge of what the IPT has in store for 2006 and beyond?

Pool as a sport has never been a great income for the Professional player, now we all have a chance to earn some decent money and a lot of fans on here are disgruntled......I can't quite work that one out.

There will be even more date clashes in the future as the IPT have 11 events planned for 2007 and 15 events for 2008....bearing in mind they last for at least 1 week at a time.

How do you suppose all the organisations will work then to avoid date clashes?

If you check the WPA calendar, the Euro Tour in September clashes with the US 9 Ball Open your all screaming about........and they are supposed to be working together.........explain that one!

Surely these top events will attract the players anyway if they're as prestigious as you say?

IPT....Real Pool, Real Rules, REAL MONEY....says it all. :D

BTW, since the launcg of the IPT, the DCC had record numbers, the 1st Euro tour was oversubscribed with record numbers and the 1st British ranking event had record entries......I think they're having a positive affect around the world, wouldn't you agree?

As for the IPT folding within a few years...forget it. The man behind it all (Mr Trudeau) says they are well in front of projected expectations and to me that sounds very good. They are going to take the sport to a new level and those players fortunate enough to be on it will prosper as TRUE Professional sports people.

The One has already done some sums on what they're likely to take in with qualifier entry fees, never mind the bigger picture of licensing fees which he hopes to get more than the WSOP, add to that what the venues will be paying and then the TV rights.......the guy has done his work on all of this, thats why he is so succesful.

to all who support the u.s. open and the w.p.b.a and all other organizations to you i say this "you had your chance, you had MORE than your chance, you had 30 years worth of a chance. where was the corporate backup, hmmmm??? where was the big sponsership???? pool never took off, and now it is in the hands of the ipt. think about the big picture and not the small. the u.s.open is small. the ipt is big. the u.s.open was never shown on national television. you know think of it this way, it doesn't matter if your a billionaire, many, many , many billionaires have NO CLUE how to market pool, in their hands they may as well, take their money and burn it!!! mr. kevin truedue on the very other hand , not only has billions of dollars, but listen carefully,~~~~~~~~~~~~ HE HAS VISION, he is not just looking at one ball ahead, he's planning out the entire run out, so to speak. i know where barry is coming from, and to him i say you had your chance for pool to shine, you put in hard work hard hours, for what ever reason, it failed, pool right now as i type this is as popular as titally winks!!! let us relax, sit back and let a man with vision and money run the show, and one of two things will come about this, either it will fail miserably, and then we could all ***** and moan, that he took away the u.s open or ~~~~~~~~ the ipt could be the biggest shot in the arm in the 500+ years of pocket billiards.

Not quite spot on

Spot on HH.

3 of the conflicting scheduled IPT tournaments will have 200 top players not 150. The Dec. tournament will also be qualifying for next year so many more will be attending. So there still will not be many great players left to attend the conflicting events.

bottom line is this people. the u.s.open is for people that already admire pool. the ipt is for people that never got interested in pool, and may want to tune in to see who will be eliminated. what does this all mean? in the scheme of things answer this,~~~~~ do you want pool to be HUGE or small? do you want pool to be HUGE forever, or just a couple of years? wake up and stop complaining!!!!! the ipt is trying to make pool HUGE forever, not just for an hour, kevin is not in this for a quick buck, (believe me he doesn't need it) he is on a mission to make pool huge with NON-POOL PEOPLE that is the essence of the ipt, bring in the world, not just the few pool lovers.

So you think that depriving players the chance to compete in additional tournaments is a good thing and helps their bottom line, interesting. You know, of the 150 players like maybe 25 will make any money the rest couldn't win one of those big pay days if their lives depended on it so don't throw around those big first place numbers like other like to do because it only applies to maybe less then 20% of the field. many of those players would love the chance to play in the US Open but may now be deprived due to the IPT who by the way has like one tournament scheduled in the next eight months. I hope they are making cash advances to some of those players against all their big earnings they are going to make so they can pay their bills.

According to many people on this forum, the top 150 or 200 players aint on the tour, so where is the problem?

Surely there are other great players out there not selected for the IPT who will compete at the other events?

The Mosconi Cup conflict only affects about 12 players if I'm right?

Surely Matchroom can get 6 USA and 6 European players to compete in this event from the thousands out there?

How many of the IPT players actually played in the US 9 Ball Open last year?

I would say les than half of them. So in effect the tournament could still go on as I believe they had it oversubscribed in 2005 and with the support of the players/fans in this forum, who knows how many they will get to attend in 2006?

The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are. :p

With all due respact, have you ever even played in the US Open? If so how did you do? I am afraid you will be one of the first casualties the IPT but enjoy it while it lasts. I really don't want to say any more other then you are very uninformed with many of your statements.

The real bottom is, next year you will be on the outside looking in and I would be interested in hearing your more objective opinions then.

Only one player can win the big payout at the US Open....only one.

18 players can make as much AND more money at the IPT event with plenty of others making good money also.....not to mention $5k for coming in last (200th).

BTW I'm sure Earl Strickland finished 4th out of 256 players and got $5k for his weekly efforts as I remember him remark about how he cant wait to get started playing 8 ball on the IPT events (I'll let you work out the reasons why).

Thats the beauty of the IPT, the players who don't finish 1st can still make a good living from the game. :)

Did you know all the players are g'teed at least $13k + profit share before hitting a ball. :D

Yeah I know what tournament all the players would rather be at.

Isn't the guy in the middle of the photo, in black suite, with the back of his head facing us, standing by the pole, Marlon?

I mistook Lou for Dallas.:)

Vincent is the guy all the way in the back talking to someone, whom I cannot recognize.

Who is the fellow standing on the edge to the right of the picture? I can only see his brown cue case.

I think any player who drops off after the 1st year will only have great memories of the year gone by that they will treasure forever.

Only people like yourself drag the sport down, you need to give it a rest.

As I said previously, I dont know you at all but from reading your posts on this forum, all you do is slate the IPT.

Tell me, do you play competitively at all the major events?

(You can PM me and we can discuss privately if you wish as to why your so peeved off about everything)

It is out of character for me to make a personal comment to another poster but I am sorry, I find many of his post to be insulting, condescending and quite uninformed. I could not help but say it like it is.
