IPT on Versus...????

I set my VCR to record the scheduled coverage of the IPT North American Open Finals from 11:00PM Saturday through 1:00AM this morning...when I returned home and re-wound the VCR, it appears as if Bull Riding replaced the billiards coverage which was scheduled...????
Anyone else experience this...what's going on, anyway...did Versus cancel the coverage at the last minute...????
 
The match was on after bull riding, you should have recorded some of the match, it started about 30 minutes late.
 
I watched the last 3/4 of the match & wondered why it ran over 30 minutes.:confused:
Man that was a great match to watch. If Marlon could only make a ball on the break...I believe he'd be champ.;)

VCR? What's that?.....lol. Espn has had this same problem for years I just learned to deal with it. I guess pool takes a back shelf to bull riding and bowling...!

Lucky for us, we were out at Ribfest all day and they closed the park at 10:00, so we came home took a shower and flipped on the TV to watch the IPT final, and The Bull riding was still on, so we left the TV on to see what the deal was and the IPT did come on just after 11:30.
It is on again Tuesday night:

What really bugs me personally is that no matter how exiting or close a Pool match is ESPN or whoever will still cut it down to fit into exactly 60 minutes (including 3 or 4 ad breaks) but if the bull riding, bowling, nose picking championship or whatever runs over time THAT gets shown. Oy.

Weirdly enough, I tuned in once to what was supposed to be IPT coverage and it was Bull Riding. Once it ended, bullriding was scheduled to start and it was IPT coverage.

It doesn't matter whether they get the kinks out or not. By the time they do, the IPT will have officially folded altogether.

While I was watching the event I realized two things:

1) this may be the last time I see the IPT on TV and

2) if they actually show the World 8-Ball event it will be a real kick in the teeth to all those that are owed $$$

...unless the airing of that event actually results in the $$$ flow needed to pay the players.
 
I'm sure all the IPT players signed a contract to be taped and broadcast,
giving them no legal recourse. For the kind of prize money that was dangled in front of them, most would sign anything put in front of them.

In theory if this ever gets to court and/or bankruptcy the rights to the recorded matches will be an asset that may be re-distributed by a judge regardless of what the original contract said.

However unless someone knows otherwise at present I assume Versus is actually charging the IPT to show their events, and not the other way around. This is the deal the WPBA have with ESPN, and they do this to drive their income from sponsors. With very few or no sponsors (Ho and Natural Cures don't count) the IPT has no revenue stream except in specialized sales of the content itself on DVD or streaming. Unfortunately this income cannot be anything but a drop in the sizable bucket of IPT debt right about now.
 
The finals were great to watch. Too bad this will probably be the last IPT event. I can't imagine anyone showing up to get stiffed again...
