IPT Qualifier - Massachusetts

I recently heard that Country Club USA (http://www.countryclubusa.com/) will be hosting one of the four national IPT qualifying events. I do not know the date of the event.

Edit: Correction - this location is not yet confirmed. I apologize for the incorrect information; I was under the impression that it was finalized.

I am very curious as to how many players it will draw considering the hefty buy in (and yes I do realize the potential pay off...but do they?).

Some players I would like to see in the tournament:

Joe Tucker
Tom D'Alfonso
Tony Ruberto
Gary Abood (prob not)
Frankie Hernandez
Jockey from Roch, NY
Dan Kolacz from Buff, NY

I'm new to NE; who else? Any AZ'ers going to play?

I would like to see New York Straight-Pool Champion and Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour Tournament Director Mike Zuglan enter this event. He could win the whole shebang easily.

Steve Tavernier from Providence, RI is another player who would do well, IMHO.

Just a couple of names that come to my mind who frequent that neck of the woods!

Gary Abood is up in that area now? Is his fro with him? You are right though, unless he has a backer he is not going to pony up the $2k for the qualifier. I hope I am wrong though, Gary is a great player and funny as hell.

I live a short walk away from Country Club USA. I'd participate in the qualifier if I had a spare 2k lying around...

...and also if I was any good. :D

Good suggestions, JAM. I believe Tavernier won a Joss Tour Finale a few years ago, and I saw him play (lose to) Corey Deuel in the $25K added Finale last year.

As for Abood, you must have missed this thread:
Masked Man

He's half way to $2K with A/B tournament winnings from the last few weeks alone. I wonder if he's gotten much action while up here.

That's funny I should have guessed that was Abood.

When he was in L.A. last he was hanging out in Santa Monica. A decent player from outside L.A. was looking for some one-pocket action and couldn't get a game in Hollywood. Someone who knew him told him to go to Santa Monica but to steer clear of the white guy with the Afro (Abood). So the guy goes to Santa Monica and looses several hundred playing one-pocket with "a guy named Gary" (Abood), it was one of the days where Gary had pulled his hair back into a ponytail.

Mike X was in Orlando..

It's now official that CC USA will be hosting in late February.

Do the 2 players that qualify get a cash prize or just the tour card? Does most of the money go to the IPT?

The 2 players 'only' receive their tour cards, which is worth upwards of $113K, assuming they keep their tour cards for the next year. I assume this because anyone that can win a qualifier should have no problem staying in the top 100 and keep their tour cards for 2007.

Gary Abood lives in Columbus, Ohio now. I see him at tournaments all the time.

Seen him lately? He's been tearing up the local tourneys in New England the past month.

How about this one...

Pagulayan...?

Anyone think he'd make the trip from Toronto for the qualifier? He's a shoe-in to make the cut if he does.

Hoooray

I live about a stones throw away from Country Club USA. I am really pumped up about the qualifier being held there. I have just gotten into pool seriously as of late and have been kicking myself since Country Club used to hold so many great events a few years back. This should be a great event and I honestly can't wait to sweat all the matches.
