Here we go ... It's less than 4 days away and the phones are ringing off the hook. I personally have had a lot of calls but I cannot answer the questions asked since it's not my event.

Here is what I do know.

1. You have to register online or by calling the IPT office. No registrations or monies will be taken at Pro-Tyme.

2. You must suit up.. Yes you! We all are, so YOU have to too! That means nice clothes, not just a clean t-shirt because they are not permitted. You must have closed toe shoes on, slacks and collared shirts on. No exceptions what so ever, If you show up looking nothing like I just described, then you might as well either go home or find some nice clothing quick, because you wont be able to get in the door. OK?

3. I don't know how many people or who are coming because the IPT does the entries and they don't tell Pro-Tyme until the day of the event.

4. Be there by 10:00 AM that's AM in the morning for the players meeting. Play will begin after. If you are late, they will NOT hold up the show for you. I suggest coming in the night before and getting a room. IF you need help finding a room, email me at windycityopen@aol.com and I will help you. Otherwise, you are on your own.

5. Memorize your IPT rules, Get em right because your opponent will be calling every foul he/she can.

6. There is NO outside food or drink allowed inside Pro-tyme, so leave it in the car.

7. Children are allowed inside Pro-Tyme because it is a NON-alcoholic establishment. BUT due to the this qualifier, your child must be on it's very best behavior. So if he/she starts acting up, i.e. running around, disturbing others or being loud, you will be asked to take he/she outside. Please be considerate to the players during this event.

8. No flash photography whatsoever... Forget it, don't bring it.

Have a great time and I look forward to seeing a lot of friends this weekend.

What are the payouts? Only first place gets entry? They're charging 900for table time? That's outrageous.

It's a qualifier... To get into the IPT. That's what you win. Where is the 900 for table time. I don't get it???

More information on the IPT web site.

Good luck all!

To be fair Eydie I can see how some are confused by the content of your first post. The event on the IPT site that is scheduled for Pro-Tyme on 25-27 August appears to be a normal IPT Qualifier, exactly the same as any of the other 24 World Open Qualifiers in that you enter via IPT only at the
US$ 1,500/- or US$ 750 level. The winner on both the winners and losers sides gets a slot in The World Open and the 3rd through 6th places all get free entry into a future IPT Qualifying Event.

The detail you posted has a vague reference to "this based on 16 runners"
....what is based on 16 runners? In IPT Qualifying Events it doesn't matter how many runners there are as far as the prizes go:confused:

It also states double elimination with race to 8 on winners side and race to 5 on the losers side.Maybe this is also connected in some way with the "based on 16 runners" remark:confused: ....... am pretty sure that IPT insist upon all 25 qualifying events being race to 10 on both sides of the board and there is therefore surely no way an IPT Qualifying event will be sanctioned to play race to 5?

EDIT.......have left the above untouched but have now seen the similar post in the upcoming tournaments thread. The reason for the confusion in this thread Eydie is that you have accidentally forgotten to delete the line about "based on 16 runners" and the line about "race to 8 and race to 5" which were from the original event details for the $150 local pre-qualifier competitions that you advertised for 12th and 19th August.Obviously these details are irrelevant to the actual IPT Qualifying Event taking place on 25-27 August and should have been deleted for this thread

Mikey~ Thanks for clearing it up for me. The flyer that they sent me had both this event and 2 other mini events which have already been finished. I tried to remove that info and apparently made it more confussing... Sorry for any inconvenience.

So, with that said to all, BE THERE! it's going to be a lot of fun and besides you get to meet me as well... lol

Any question, call Protyme. I am not running it, just trying to help them get the word out.

Danny Harriman has arrived, Rodolfo “Boy Samson” Luat arrived at Midway last night, Jeanette Lee is due in by tomorrow, a car full of players from Iowa including infamous Jessie Bowman are on their way here and the list is growing.

We will have live updates during this event all weekend exclusively here on AZBilliards.com. Check the main forum for all of this info.

That's cool. I'll be staying tuned! :p

I spoke to Jeanette Lee at the Turning Stone tourney last week, and she said she was planning on attending the qualifier in "Chicago" this weekend for sure.

I'll tell you one thing, I saw her beat Shawn Wilkie going to 9 and go hill-hill with Jerry Slivka. She is hitting 'em mighty sporty right now. Beware of the Black Widow! ;)

Looking forward to the report. Pictures would be nice too, pretty please! :D

JAM~ That's just what I was thinking as well. She is bound and determined to get into the IPT and is playing very well, so let's not count her out too early.

When I was over at the room tonight, I saw that they purchased a expensive camera and printer for the event, so I assume that I will be sending in pictures as I get them.

I will update both the IPT area and the main forum as I get the info. I will be starting around 4 PM. Some of ther matches will be over, I think that they are beginning matches at 12:00 noon after the players meeting at 10:00 AM.

I have tried to no avail to get the complete player list, but it is hush hush till we hours of this morning...

What a stellar field! I noticed my homeboys, Jerry Slivka and Shawn Wilkie, are in attendance. I will, of course, be pulling for them to win. ;)

Interestingly, I noticed that Gary Abood is competing in the qualifier in England, the lone American. I wonder if he's trying to do a Stevie Moore repeat as Stevie was the lone American to win in Italy several weekends ago. :p

Let the games begin. I'm looking forward to following this one!

Will Jeanette Lee maintain her winning ways as she did at Turning Stone Casino last week?

Will Ronnie Wiseman, like he did last qualifiers, win the last ticket to Reno this weekend?

Will old-school player Mark Jarvis make it to the finish line?

Will Danny Harriman be in dead-punch stroke and sail right on through with ease?

Will the lone Filipino Luat steamroll his way to the winner's circle as he's done in other IPT qualifiers?

Will roadster Jesse Bowman perform well as a tournament soldier and go on to play for more money than he's ever played for in his young life in Reno?

Will Dave Matlock, who pocketed 30 big ones in Vegas, win this weekend and add to his IPT tournament winnings so he can build that new house with his fiance?

I'm staying tuned, but whoever comes out on top in this qualifier is going to have earned it! Two players will get the nod to advance to Reno to compete in a $3-million purse.

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. I love typing, I love Keith, and I love the IPT. Keith McCready for 2008! :D

There is an amazing tough field in England.

Christian Reimering, Germay, ranked 6th on the Eurotour
Kevin Uzzell, UK, ranked 13th on the Eurotour
Michael Schmidt, Germany, ranked 14th on the Eurotour
Vilmos Foldes, Hungary, ranked 16th on the Eurotour

Then you got players as Rico Diks, A. Worthington, Goran Mladenovic, Mark Grey (English 8-ball player), Marco Tschudi (2nd in the European Championship this year), Marthino Correia (Portugal/England) who has been among top 3 in almost every tournaments he has played in the UK lately + many others...

Do not think the American has a chance in that field. The Eurotour is maybe the hardest 9-ball tour in the world (?) with playes as Mika Immonen, Hohmann, Souquet, Feijen, Lely, Chamat, Ortmann, Peach, Engert, van den Berg, Drago, Ouschan, Foldes and many many more playing regular.

Qualifier

Does Matlock know he is at the top of the list to Replace Buddy or Rempe???

If not, then David and Jeanette could meet in the 2nd round...

And Jesse and Danny could see each other in the 3rd round...

Where is that list? I'd like to see it. That would be interesting to see a list of all qualifier players, their ranking on the qualifier tournament trail! :p

Well, when I saw Jeanette go up against Maryland Young Gun Shawn Wilkie, I prejudged her and gave Shawn the edge to win. I know Shawn's game better too, having seen him play often. Whoever Lee plays, their table will be surrounded with spectators, fans, railbirds, pool media, camera snappers, cell-phone videographers, and the like. :o

I saw her run out many racks last week. Her pattern play was strong, and she seemed to always get there when it counts. The game between her and Jerry Slivka that went hill-hill could have gone either way. It came down to a safety battle, with Jerry managing to wiggle his way out of the Black Widow's web. :D

Dave Matlock vs. Jeanette Lee. Dave is hungry right now, with a killer instinct to match. I saw him in Vegas, and he's pretty fierce and on top of his game. I'd have to give the edge to Matlock in this one, if it happens. :p

I don't see Jesse Bowman's name on the participant list of many tournaments, though I hear his name a lot through the grapevine as one who enjoys games of stake. ;)

Danny Harriman's greatest asset against Jesse Bowman is that Danny is a seasoned veteran in a tournament environment. Plus, I like his game on a 9-foot table better than Jesse's who, from what I have been told, is more of a bar-box mechanic, much like a few other people I know! :D

I'd give Danny the edge in this one. :)

Speaking of Buddy Hall, I remember seeing Buddy Hall's IPT North American 8-Ball Championship duffle bag being carted out of the players' meeting area in Vegas last month in a fancy brass pushcart.

Somehow, seeing the duffle bag with his name on it, sitting there all alone as it was being carted out by two IPT staffers, it was kind of sad. I'd like to see Buddy Hall back in the saddle again, the sooner the better.

I still love this duffle bag. The players did too. Many of them were toting their pool tools in it throughout the week in Vegas. Earl Strickland never left his room without it. :)

I saw them both last night, they played in a mini 9 ball tournament at Pro-Tyme. I will tell them that you send them much luck.

I will get there around 4 PM and update you all then. I am sure there will be a lot to report by then.

I heard about Gary being in England before I ever saw the list of players for the event. My 1st thought was....if he's trying to pull what Stevie did, he went to the wrong place! LOL England is full of great players... Other than Fabio and Stefano, who else can you name from Italy??? The key wasn't to just go out of the states, the key was to go to a place that isn't known for pool and hasn't produced a large crop of great pool players.... I sincerely hope that Gary went over there for other reasons because if he went over there to try and do like Stevie did.... Not too bright of a move. ;)

Looks like

Matlock handled Jeanette pretty well, beating her 10-5.

Jesse and Danny are playing RIGHT NOW. Boy, I would love to see that match. Anyone give a clue how it is going?

Richard Pierce that is playing. Is he the one from Tulsa, that I know, and brother of Rhonda Pierce???
