IPT qualifiers

Sure are a lot of them. I wonder if they'll ever have a tour event. They probably should try and delay as long as possible because all those qualifiers must be a major cash cow. What do you think?

Check out their web site. The schedule is up there. Tour events start this summer.

I think that the money being raised through the qualifiers is chump change compared to the moneys already spent on production of the first two IPT events and the over $2,000,000 dished out in prize money already.

I'm suspicious as hell of Kevin Trudeau and was thinking the same thing. Though in truth, it really doesn't seem like a very profitable scam. I'll maintain my wait and see attitude, but even if the IPT pans out I still wouldn't trust KT.

Seems as if a decent player could have a chance at the qualifiers. There are not that many entered: 6, 8, 10, 10, and 17. Someone could get some lucky breaks and be in the big show. Especially the one with only 6 players. 2 will move on and 4 will get another chance so all 6 will get something.

For a top quality player, the qualifier is a good deal. You win, you get $2K minimum. You also get a chance to play a pro and get another qualifier entry if you don't take one of the top spots. For example, if you were a top player wouldn't you think you could take one of the four spots available if you played in two qualifiers with only 6-10 people?

I do think it kind of sucks that the qualifier with only 6 people in it guarantees another shot while the guys in Vegas will be battling almost three times as many people, better players too apparently, and 11 of those guys don't get the extra qualifier try automatically.

Guess which one my buddy is playing in? That's ok though, if he plays like he's capable of, even the "legendary names" in Vegas don't have to like it.

two things...

a) The Vegas event was always the one to stay away from, a qualifier like that between the BCA and VNEA nationals was bound to be the most popular.

b) I know that the IPT where expecting 64 players the EACH qualifer, won't mention names but they where confident of acheiving this. Maybe they will get more now that the numbers where so low but hopefully they'll look at the format and tweak a few things if the numbers don't improve.

One things for sure, the single qualifier in Europe before the Euro Tour next weekend and probably the single qualifier in the UK are also ones to avoid like the plague if you are looking to improve your odds.

Victoria Qualifier will almost certainly have Imran, Steve Knight, Drago? a host of UK 8 and 9 ballers and possibly some Euro players like engert and fodles that have free entries to use up.

Can't wait to see the first event though...
