Where ...

I heard Wu and other two taiwanese players - Huang Kun-Chang and Fu Che-Wei will paly the IPT Weert Qualifier. Huang was the 1995?1996 WPA World 9-Ball Junior's champions and Asian Games 8-ball silver medal, and Fu was the former Asian Championship winner.

did you hear this? Is it a reliable source? That sure would add a lot of excitement to the Weert qualifier for the Pool world. Wu, after getting beat out of the previous 2 qualifiers may have paused, and had to think about entering the Weert qualifier for a bit. He may have thought he would be a
shue-in previously, and now knows that it is no piece of cake for qualifying.

I hope they do play, so this qualifier can be as competitive as the previo9us ones.

From Germany:
Thomas Seiffert
Marko Vogel
Jürgen Wulf
Brian Naithani
Andreas Roschkowsky

And in April they are hosting the world straight pool championship qualifier, so lucky to live just 30 miles from weert.

I hope this is true, if these three players all participate it will make this field even tougher. Fu Che-Wei is an amazing player and I wouldn't be surprised if he played well enough to earn his tour card.

Serge Das and Pascal Budo from belgium will be playing too.
even if pascal seems to have a bigger experience on the eurotour then das, i think Dassie (like we call him) will make it pritty far. If its enough to get a tourcard, i dont know, but i hope so for him and our country. to bad mario doesnt play. i dont got any reason why he wont qualify. maybe getting to old? i hope not.

i wish my 2 belgium friends the best of luck, im jalous about dave cuz he only lives 30km away, and i thank Maurice for making it all happen again. I really hope ill meet u one day maurice.

we need a weert and a maurice in belgium too to get things boosted.

I talked to Santos...

Wu played, even won some bonus money, but he didn't earn a card.

I've heard he won 75K for the nine ball title and his gov't gave him a 400K bonus. Then he wins the eight ball title for more $$, and his gov't might of gave him another 200K bonus. He also got a bonus from his sponsor.

I think he can afford the fare to Europe. What the hell else is more important for Wu then a chance to win some tourneys with six figure payouts?

I like Thomas Engert to get a card. I wonder if Santos is going over. Can you imagine having a card, losing it for lack of communication, and then spending 6000-8000 in entrance fees alone to try and get your card back?

Santos said that he didn't put in his application...

Santos put in his application. He was an original member of the IPT. What he didn't send back was his player's contract. :(

It's a pity three taiwanese players have cancelled their trip to Weert, but the japanese Furuta Kazou is also from taiwan. Wish he can win the Weert qualifier.

Filipino contingent

It seems like the Filipino contingent had trouble getting visas  It could have added more spice to the qualifier if more FIlipinos aside from Santos are there.

Straight from the IPT...
"The German constituency is very strong, and there are also many players who flew the 40 minutes from England to be here. It is rumored that the Filipinos had trouble acquiring visas, and Santos Sambajon Jr. is the only representative in Weert. "
