Wait til Colin and I call in ("Call in/Colin, get it?) our ultimate weapon - 8ball Bernie.
Then it will be more like Saturday Night Live than Good Morning America:eek: :D

QUESTION:
Are other sponsors coming to you to sponsor the tour?

Answer:
Yes. Major corporations from around the world are showing tremendous interest in the IPT. We have firm offers on the table for large corporate sponsorships; however, there is no reason for me to accept any of this corporate money
Many other major corporations are coming to me as well; however, there is no reason for me to accept their money when it is much more profitable for me to sponsor the tour myself with the companies that I own. If those companies can see that these are good investments, then obviously it’s a good investment for my businesses as well. The bottom line here is the money for the production and the prize funds are absolutely there. The television interest is there, and this tour is already profitable!
Still think the delay is all about KT saving himself a $1,000,000 ??????
As I've said several times, I do not know exactly what is going on, but I do hear some insider rumours. Yes, I still think the delays are mostly about getting the best deals possible and to maximize effect and efficiency.

QUESTION:
Are you trying to get other sponsors?

Answer:
No. I am not trying to get other sponsors. All the people in pool are wondering how I can make money with the IPT tour, or ask all these questions about how I can turn a profit and what my business model is. Unfortunately, the critics have absolutely no clue about how to run a billion dollar business. Again, he doesnt need the money. R has already said[ 20 times ] that KT got rid of 140 M just for tax purposes! That doesn't mean he is wreckless in managing money. I still would be very suprised if the KT knocked back a multi-million sponsorship offer from say a car company like Toyota. But that just may not fit into how he plans this business. he may be attempting things in a very different way than traditional sports property management businesses.

Fact is we don't know exactly what is hapenning, and it's not KT's right to even discuss openly what is taking place in negotiations. He must balance the pros and cons and make decisions and announcements that will satisfy partners, sponsors, players, fans, broadcasters etc. according to the situation. Pure speculation. You are just as much in the dark as the rest of the board! You are just making excuses.I said I was speculating. If you take that as being an apologist, an excuse maker or a sychophant then I feel that is an unaccurate accusation against my probity.

This is not a local bar setting a tourney date, there is much more on the line with huge expenditures and partners that are key to making the business work. Thats not the attitude you took when the British 9-Ball Open was postponed and they have OTHER sponsers to please and TV coverage!!! I feel this is a mis-representation of my opinion and what I said about the British event postponement. I said that I thought it was likely that the IPT time conflict delay was an excuse, but I also said it could be true. The IPT has not made any excuses that I am aware of. They simply are reconsidering the details of an incredibly complex schedule. I'm not the least bit suprised by that. Though it would suit many for them to pencil in all the dates asap, it could cause many future management problems. I fully support the British event and hope the confusion caused by the IPT not having dates settled does not stop that event from going ahead and being a great success. Maybe I should have kept my opinion silent...sometimes we just say too much and regret it later:(

Quote KT,

"QUESTION:
Don’t you need the top pool players from all around the world playing in IPT events in order to make the IPT a success?
Answer:
The “Current” top pool players from around the world are only recognized for being top 9-Ball players using fast cloth and other easy conditions and formats. Ef winning the IPT invitational blew that idea right out the window, dont you think. LOL Nobody really knows who the top 8-Ball players in the world are. However, it doesn’t matter if not even a single “name” player plays on the IPT tour. "
??????
I don't think Efren winning proved any such thing. Efren was known as a top 8-baller and as a player who would likely adapt well to the cloth conditions. The stats on run-out by many top 9-ballers at the event did, I believe, show that they didn't adapt very well to 8-ball or the table conditions. Maybe the qualifiers will introduce some 8-ball specialists to the tour. Guys who have had mediocre success in 9-ball in the past, but who are much more competitive in 8-ball.

Quote Colin,

"Are you gonna throw away 1.1mill to satisfy the forum whiners or IPT members".

So if I point out the OBVIOUS inconsistency with this statement and the $2,000 Q fee- I am a whiner?????? My comment above did not infer that you are a whiner, but as you asked the question, I'd say you may have crossed the fine line that separates someone who offers suggestions, asks questions and someone who is whining or just too picky / overly critical / negative...on occassion.

I was here LONG before the IPT and if the IPT wants to use this site for free advertising and pack the board with IPT syncophants- I will continue to give my 2ct. I can be hard and sometimes cutting but I try not to insult anyone just because he or she doesnt share my viewpoint. Just because some posters have different opinions than yours about the IPT workings, it doesnt make them negative, losers or whiners.
Capiche?
Sure, I never said you shouldn't be allowed to have a viewpoint. I also have a right to offer a counter-viewpoint when I feel it's appropriate.

Anyway, time will answer a lot of the questions hopefully.

Colin,

We may not agree on all things IPT, but I do want to say that you are exactly the type of player the new image of pool needs. Cordial, professional, and well-spoken. The IPT should be proud.

If things don't work out, it won't be for lack of dedication from the players and staff.

I wish you, Linda, and all the other players the best of luck!

I could not agree more, they both have conduct themselves very well here and are great representatives for the tour. If this thing ever does get kicked off I will be rooting for these two to do well and look forward to meet them one of these days at one of the tournaments

Thanks Steve and Macguy!
It's satisfying that mutual respect and even friendship can be formed through debate....even if we get a bit hot under the collar at times :D

Thank you to both Steve and MacGuy for the good wishes. Differing opinions and diversity are what make the world go round. Asking probing questions, and challenging the status quo are necessary to the development of ideas and plans. I hope to meet both of you and certainly hope either of you feel free to come say hi anytime. I could use a good cornerman! ;)
