Anitokid thanks for the links to Iris. She must be quite a player. I'm guessing 4ft 9 or 10inches. They were talking about her break she must be dynamite. Thanks to aka Trigger for the great pics. Did you take these? The answer is Ihave not seen her play but looking foward to it.

I was there at Kolby's last night and saw her warm-up before the tourney and play some of her matches. Angel is not even in the same league. She is at least a ball and a half or two balls better than Angel, IMHO. She is a good candidate to be a 10.

She hits the balls pretty good, i liked her style from what I saw of the televised US open matches. She really played aggressively! She shpuld continue to do good on the WPBA.

After I played her I found out the scoop.......and it validated why I was so impressed with her play.
Actually it felt like I was Playing Efren's little sister or something...They have a very similar canter and demeaner around the table...
I don't think her shotmaking was any better than me, but her CB control was far better than mine....
It was actually a very fun match.....even though I lost.

I remember Kelly beating Iris pretty soundly at the US open. Iris made a lot of unprofessional errors, and she seemed pretty rattled when she discovered her opponent could play.
If a man in the men's US Open played the way Iris played, they would never have made the finals, but probably gone two and out.
Not trying to bash Iris or say she absolutely CAN'T play, But I don't think she has exhibited the skills of a Kelly or Alison Fisher, or a Corr, or Ga Young Kim.
Honestly, I can't BELIEVE Iris won against Yu Ram Cha in the semi's of the Open. Yu Ram played better, but just couldn't get a roll. (Both players missed a LOT of balls.) Also Iris s*ithooked her several times in a race to 7. That helps.
Also, her win over Alison was tainted because even Alison admitted that she played worse than she ever had in the first ever 2 and out by AF.
Again, nothing against Iris, I just think she has a ways to go before she can play at the top level.

Surprisingly left handed people are different from right handed people. A disproportionate number of left handed people are criminals, tyrants, bad folks in general. However they are also more heavily represented in the arts and in areas needing high intelligence than the percentages indicate they should be.

I can agree with you at a certain point that she hasn't discovered yet her full potential as a player. but I disagree with you that she can't play yet at the top level. she is a shot player, and could beat even a top ranked player. besides, it's not everyday that you are able to beat stronger ranked players consecutively, regardless of her opponents having a bad day or not. beating a somebody should be considered a feather to one's cap.

But, the above is the same observation I saw on tv, but what we don't know is about her nerves. She obviously played well the entire tournament before the tv rounds to make it there and maybe she was just nervous in the tv rounds and that's why she didn't come across as the strong player the stats indicated?

There were only 7 entries, so maybe she didn't consider it much of a tournament?
She didn't "run over" me, but she played very well and won easily. Wish I had known who she was before I played her.
I met Iris (and her sister) in Virginia this year at a Tiger Pool Tour Stop and she was such a sweet person--they both were! I didn't get to watch many of her matches but she did pretty well in the Open event that weekend as well as winning the Ladies qualifier. I can't comment on her play (or her nerves or whatever) but she was an incredibly nice person which is always refreshing to see in the pool world.
Iris vs. Angel
UH, Angel was in the pro tour a few years back. I don't recall her doing well at any major events. That was when she was playing quite a bit. So, with the competition getting better I don't see Angel getting a top 3 finish at all any more, at least in a major. JMHO for what it's worth.BVal said:Cool. Iris is considered to be the best womans money player in Philippines. Rubilen Amit the better tournament player, thio that may be more debatable nowadays
