this may be a little soon to spectulate, since its so early in the year........but it seems like 05 is going to be a good year for the "new guys" in men's pro pool. i know all of the guys that i'm going to mention have been playing a while and are by no means new to the game, but they are new names in the national spotlight for the most part.

gabe owen
charlie bryant
danny basavich
(these guys have been playing good for a while and all had good years last year)
and

BJ USSERY.......watch out for him, i hadn't seen him play until recently and he's going places..........soon.

like i said this may be a little soon.........but i'm predicting that these 4 guys are going to have great years.

is there anyone else that i missed off the list??? (other than the usual guys like reyes, archer, etc, etc)

thanks

I definitely agree about B.J. Ussery a/k/a "G.I. Joe." He's knocking down tournaments left and right on the regional scene, and it's only a matter of time before he breaks into the big circuit. A sponsor's dream poster boy, B.J. has no bad habits and has a sense of pride in the way he presents himself in public. He plays in local weekly tournaments back home to stay in stroke, since he maintains a full-time job. He's just about won everything in North Carolina, his homestate, and now he's stretching his reach, i.e., his most recent win this past weekend in Tennessee.

Players the "new guys" have to look out for in 2005: Rodney Morris, Danny Basavich, Corey Deuel, and Johnny Archer.

Rodney, in particular, is looking pretty sharp as of late. Johnny is always going to be a contender in any event he plays in. Corey REALLY wants to be on top and takes no prisoners. Looking at Danny's track record of last year, he's here to stay.

My personal pick: Tommy "Shorty" D'Alphonso. This kid has the look of a seasoned pro when he's at the table. Perfect pool etiquite as if he's been playing for decades. He doesn't get riled up, and continues to fight 'til the end. He's also got that in-the-eyes championship look about him, a lot of killer instinct. What's mysterious about him now is that nobody really knows how strong the kid can play.

Especially after the Joss tour finale a couple of years ago.
In succession he took out Frankie Hernandez, Earl Strickland, and then demolished Mika Immonen. He then took Bustamante to the hill where Busty got the better of him but not before earning quite a bit of respect from everyone there. Ended up taking 4th in a star studded event. Pretty impressive if you ask me...

Haha... when I first read the topic I thought this thread was going to be about me. :D

Anyway, I think this year will be good for me. My game has been improving by leaps and bounds lately.

Tyler Edey and Eric Hjorleifson would merit a mention in this thread as guys that might just be ready to break through.

Considering how unknown they are they could definitely make some big noise in 05.

Anyone who you can watch hit balls for over an hour on tough equipment- and not see miss one ball- all the while jumping, kicking, and running them out like it's a freaking joke gets my nod... Enter James Baraks!

i will definately have to second what u r speculating here. and i can definately say from personal expierence that BJ will definately be a force to be reckoned with. i would also like to add to the list niels feijen, a guy who from what i have seen has stolen the spot light every chance he has got the last couple tournaments.....
