Is a Carbon Fiber pool shaft strong enough for 3c?

Hello,

I'm a pool player recently getting into 3c and I was told not to use my maple pool cue because of the risk of damaging the shaft on the cue heavier balls.
But would I be able to safely use a carbon fiber pool cue?

The reasons I want a pool cue is largely because of the taper. All the wood carom cues I've seen have that steep taper that gets thicker than a pool cue. I would prefer to play with something more similar in feel to a pool cue. Also I love the idea of just having to swap out a 3/8x10 shaft onto my pool cue butt.

Thanks for the advice!

the things pool players come up with

efren uses his pool cue to play 3c
ive been using my players sneaky pete to play it every day at home on my table
its still stiff as hell and rolls perfect, the only way youd damage a maple shaft from carom balls is from swiping the cue at the balls

It was a carom player that told me not to use my pool cue!

I have an OB Phoenix, a rather stiff 'AA Grade Hard Maple' '
11.8mm with the 'OB Hybrid Taper (pro/conical)'

If the odds are it wont get messed up, I don't want to play with anything else!

they say some dumb stuff too lol

itll be fine, i play every game pool and carom with my players sneaky, 12.75 pro taper
hits like a million bucks with a cheapo triangle i tell ya

I'd say get a carom cue and get used to the taper. Tough it out, Nancy.

No Stanley cups were won on figure skates.

Several custom and production carom cues now have carbon fiber offerings.

I own one and while I'm not yet in love with it, it ain't cause it's weak.
