Plenty of assholes are gamblers so I see no reason a nit can not be one

Absolutely. I know plenty of nits who gamble, and plenty of gamblers who knit.
Why, just the other day I was watching two guys playing some cheap One Pocket when one fellow said to the other, "I've been knitting a sweater for the past several weeks, and I thinks it's going to be a real beauty. I must bring it by and show it to you."
The other guy just kind of looked at him.

Come to think of it I did meet a nit who gambles a while back.

I was at spa league in the same room that was holding a open 9 ball tourny that night. It drew players from 4 states around us.

There was a guy entered in that tourny practicing 2 tables over from me who was runing racks pretty frequently.

He sent his wife over to ask if any of us apa players wanted to play him some 5.00 a rack 9 ball. All of the players said no. She then went fo another table full of apa players and asked them

I noticed he never sent her to a table where other players who were entered into the tourny were practicing.

Talk about a no heart gambling nit that was looking for easy money

One pocket is so slow.... you could knit a sweater before the first game of the set is over.

A couple of years ago, I'm in the pool room. One guy starts yelling that no one has any gamble anymore. I ignored him because I know him to be a nit. Ten minutes later, a friend of mine calls me over. He tells me I'm playing someone and he is backing me, and loudmouth is backing my opponent. I have to give my opponent the 8 playing bar box 9 ball. No problem. Then he tells me it's just a race to 3 for $50.

I tell my backer to lengthen the races because my opponent is known for being a flyer and getting lucky rolls. He declines and insist on race to three. Well, it's his money....

My opponent breaks and makes the 8. Breaks again and the 9 gets kicked in. Breaks game three and makes the one, then has a duck 2-8 combo. Set one is over.

Set 2 and 3 go the same way, never more than two shots per rack. And I haven't even gotten to the table yet. Three sets down now. Now, I insist on same spot, but races to 5. Everyone agrees and I win 5-1. Loudmouth then tells his guy that they are done! I'm three sets down, win one set, and they quit after barking real loud about no one having any gamble!

THAT is the definition of a nit!

I know a guy that brags about how he wins 95% of the time he gambles. He's the biggest nit on planet earth but thinks he is the best gambler of all time. He's also a *****.

'Nit' is what dumb gamblers call smart gamblers. ;)

If not for gamblers there would be no nits. A nit doesn't match up with another nit. The reason gamblers despise nits is because they eventually cave, make a bad game - and lose.
