is it dangerous to put my case inside of the checked-in luggage?

I've never took my cue with me traveling but this could be long...I'd like to take my cue into the airplane with me but people told that I cannot with the new rules for airplanes etc.

So I'm asking people who traveled with their cues before whats the best and safest way? I wanna take with me a 1x1 case nothing fancy just a butt and a shaft with peace of chalk cause I doubt ill be playing a lot anyways. But just incase ill put it in the checked in luggage...I only got one cue so plz spare the "Just take a cheap cue with you" type of posts.....not being rude here just want to save some time as my flight is very nearly.

I'm thinking put the 1x1 case inside of my luggage but I'm scared of some nutjob airplane worker that would open it and see my revo shaft and think of stealing it? can he?

First off, it’s not a new rule. It’s been that way for a long time.
I’ve pack a cue in checked luggage many times without any issues.
 
I have a large suitcase that my 2x4 case fits inside diagonally. No issues. Not sure I would I trust it though if the suitcase wasn't a hardside.
 
I recommend a hard cue case to put in your suitcase to protect your cue since luggage can get bounced around
and i put TSA locks on my case and suitcase
i have had a note telling me my suitcase or cue case ( i dont remember) was searched but nothing was removed
i have traveled this way with my cue many times and never had an issue

Buy a three piece cue. I bought one and it’s as good or better than a lot of two piece.

Rather than give you all the options, I’ll just answer your question. I’ve traveled with a cue for well over 30 years, and I’m a million miler with one airlines. It’s closer to 1.5- 2 million when you add up the other airlines. Since thr 9/11 attack, I’ve had to check in my cue somewhere around 50 times. No nutjob (sic) has stolen my cues yet. Have I been totally nerve wracked? Yes? Have my cues not made it on my flight? Yes. Have I had to bang on a door where they store luggage that came on a different flight than mine? Yes.

I suppose there’s always a chance of stolen cues, but consider how many players fly to tournaments whether professionals or amateurs (Vegas, SBE, etc). Are there horror stories? Percentages say there have to be.

Is the benefit worth the potential pitfalls? If you were heading out to play in an even or to a destination where you's be playing a lot of pool (Philippines), I could see waiting/needing to take your personal cue, but you admitted you won't be playing a lot. Not sure it is worth the hassle and potential risk. Food for thought.

I also have a 3 piece carbon fiber cue. It’s gone thru the X-ray five times in my carry on. Twice they pulled my carry on off the belt and made me go to check baggage. At least they didn’t confiscate my cue. The 3 piece cue squirts more than my Revo, it takes me six hours of solid play to make the adjustment, but i don’t quite ever get there.
 
Just check your cue. Handlers at airports don't steal pool cues. Put it in your case diagonally in a bag, or put the cues themselves in your case and carry the case (or a cheap soft substitute) in your cabin baggage. Your cue is unlikely to warp (and if it's carbon then it just won't) and nobody takes a job at an airport to look for our over-priced sticks.

Added note, you can insure you cues, if their lost you can at least regain your investment.
