Should money winners at major pool tournaments be drug tested before payout?


I am not trying to start a ground swell movement or trying to register a complaint---but would just like to hear your opinions. Other sports have testing and if/when pool gets "big time" it may be subject to the same standards.
 
No....... look at the overall demographic of your "typical" tournament/gambling player.....
 
I have seen alot of players use drugs but cant say I have seen any play better while on them. I personally wouldent want testing to be mandatory. Anger management classes on the other hand, HMMM......

In addition, do you HONESTLY think someone will pony up the cash to pay for drug testing? Hell no! We can't even get players paid for their tournament winnings, let alone someone have the forthright to actually pay the fees involved in collection/labwork/results, etc....

AGREED..The question wasn't could it be done, it was should it be done.

It should be done (for the players sake) but it's doubtfull.:(
 
IMHO...NO...i dont think pool players should be drug tested, next it could be poker players,chess players.I think it should be something that the players themselves vote on. That would be an issue i would think if a union were to be formed. i'm not for drugs, just think its ones own choice as to what they do. To me there is a bit of difference between the baseball player or football player using drug than the pool player, what the difference is would be another topic of debate. Again thats just my opinion.
 
Whose dime is taking care (physically, mentally) of the players that did too many, too long?

Maybe some would be spared the torture if it were harder to do...
 
100% should be tested

Pro players constantly complain about not having sponsors or big payouts after winning tournaments that showcase their skill. This is their chance to prove to the world that pool is not the drug ridden, low life game it is made out to be in movies. By being drug tested they are saying to the sponsors..."hey, the game has changed". It has nothing to do with "performance enhancing". It has everything to do with "INTEGRITY". Can we all say it together?.....I-N-T-E-G-R-I-T-Y! That's right. A pool tournament that has players in a dress code, has players drug tested, has ethics rules...wow..it might actually attract a big name sponsor. Pool couldn't even keep Camel cigarrettes as a sponsor :o . Jeez, we should be embarrassed. You think Tiger Woods would have the same endorsements if he was a wife beating/ crack addict? You think parents really want their kids to grow up to be a professional pool player?

But that of course...is too high a price to pay. Who on Earth would want to make millions of dollars if they have to wear slacks or give up their weed to do it? :rolleyes: Yes..there is sarcasm to spare....

The test is on the table. I hear all this talk about a players union bring on drug testing an you'll see a union in every league. What a about a sobriety
test for league pool. Just let em play drugies don't last. You won't see many drugies or drunks in the winners circle.
