In dead punch, I don’t like anyone over Filler. It’s so prime Earl-like that it’s uncanny.
i agree about this, it's uncanny in a way i can't verbalize, they both kind of spear the CB, if that makes sense. i have tried to emulate without success

I assume you are talking about their 10-Ball race to 120 last August. From my stats thread on that event:... SVB, is no Joe 6 pack...he did an 8 pack vs Gorst in that long race if I recall. So he's SVB 8-pack as far as I'm concerned, lol.
Keeping me honest huh? Don't you know this is an online pool hall?I assume you are talking about their 10-Ball race to 120 last August. From my stats thread on that event:
Break-and-run packages:Van Boening's 44 B&R games consisted of one 5-pack (on Day 2), one 4-pack (on Day 3), three 3-packs, six 2-packs, and 14 singles.Gorst's 44 B&R games consisted of five 3-packs, five 2-packs, and 19 singles.
Keeping me honest huh? Don't you know this is an online pool hall?I must confess, I had retired for the evening with Gorst ahead and I didn't stay to watch the conclusion, but when I was told SVB ran an 8 pack, I believed it. God, I hate myself for my naivete. I admire you AtLarge...you have a very difficult job these days, as we live in a "post truth" world. Or so I'm told.
Well, er, he did finish runner up at the US Open last year, to Fedor Gorst. He isn't exactly going out early in difficult tournaments, lol.I would never argue with your experience, but I would be curious as to your thoughts about SVB's performance vs his elite peers in recent years. SVB's 9 ball US Open wins were quite a while ago. It seems to me that the level of play has risen considerably and the competition is more fierce now than when he was winning those Opens. A rising tide lifts all boats, and the level of play has risen considerably IMHO. You would obviously know more than me, but do you think it possible in the modern era for ANYONE to dominate the way SVB did back then?
Right on. SVB is still super-elite, but in conversations about who is the best, it is all about titles. I'd like to see Shane win a Matchroom major in 2025, and I'm not betting against him. The European Open, later this month, is his first shot. Wish him the best.Well, er, he did finish runner up at the US Open last year, to Fedor Gorst. Kind of funny that the same people now using fargo as an excuse to exclude Shane, railed against it all the years that Shane led it. lol
I don't have this info, does anybody else? How many years did SVB have the highest Fargo rating? Who is next, how many years?
Exactly. I'm not a fan of any pool player in particular, I just like great pool and whomever can deliver that gets the gold star for that day. I play pool and I'm not necessarily a pool fan...a dichotomy to be sure. I don't watch sports either. Pool and sports are meant to be played IMHO. I watch to learn, not watch to root. All that aside...go SVB (see..like Whitman, I contain multitudes, lol).Right on. SVB is still super-elite, but in conversations about who is the best, it is all about titles. If he beats the winners of the huge titles heads up gambling, that's good enough for me.Right on. SVB is still super-elite, but in conversations about who is the best, it is all about titles. Shane vs Filler race to 120 would be a great matchup at the moment. I think Shane has the advantage in 10-ball because his superior break and Filler in 9-ball because he gets crazy momentum running rack after rack.If he beats the winners of the huge titles heads up gambling, that's good enough for me.
