Thank you Roger for trying to help me understand. I do understand that Jimbo is considered by many to be a valuable member. I think your response has cleared up some things, however I still don't think that Jimbo's dismissal was very shocking. It seems to be a case of others perhaps not being banned when they should have been, rather than this being an unfair banning. I can see why people would feel be upset, but shouldn't it be directed at the previous lack of action rather than the current action?

The post I was referring to was either deleted or I cannot find it, but it was there. It was very clear and in very bad taste so I won't repeat it. If you didn't see it, I don't blame you for questioning it's existance or my reference to it. It would be very wrong to make up something like that. That, however, was not the case.

Mr. Wilson is the Sheriff, plain and simple. He is the one that determines whether the law has been broken. It is pretty hard to determine 'intent' on the internet. Many posters offer opinions based upon their beliefs, affiliations, or agendas, and they are not all 'objective'
What is the common denominator? It is website rules and regulations governing the participation for this website. Mr. Wilson determines if they have been broken, and the severity of such, he's the Sheriff, remember.
Remember all the lynch mob scenes from the Westerns, well even if the majority disagreed with the Sheriff, the Sheriff was sworn to uphold the law as he saw fit.
Many people cross the line of 'civility' everyday on this forum. Many take on 'I am right or die' attitudes, many times without complete information of the situation which prompted it. And many people end up being banned out of 'Pure D Stubborness' and an absolute refusal to compromise for the benefit of the whole, and then they wonder why they got banned.
Sometimes 'The tell it as it is' people is just a coverup for a biased person
who has bad manners in the first place. And it's true, sometimes it is not what you say that matters so much, as the way you say it.
(That cue isn't beautiful, it's butt ugly as opposed to 'that cue isn't my cup of tea')
When I grew up my Dad had just a few rules I had obey, but if I didn't pay attention to them, I was punished, pure and simple.
Mr. Wilson is the Sheriff, pure and simple. He upholds the law on here.
If you don't like it, get out of Dodge, and move to another town. (I did ...no, realy I did, I grew up in Dodge City ... LOL)
I run across various banned members on here on other Pool forums, trying to get 'that ole feeling' back, trying hard too, but most, I suspect, wishes they were back here. If someone is determined to have an argument or a fight, they will find one everywhere they go.
Bottom line, be nice, show some 'couth', and keep your sense of humor.

Posting online in newsgroups, message boards and forums is an 'art' and may be fraught with pifalls and peril. Longtime posters are aware of just how far they may go and get away with it. They are experts at pushing the envelope.
They are so well aquainted with other posters that they know just which buttons to push and exactly which 'hot word' will set the others off. Jimbo has been around a long time and so have many others here. They (we,me) are capable of getting the meanest point across in the nicest possible way.
Groups form, people cover each other's back and if one has a problem, they all have a problem. I try to be funny and some people don't like it (or me) and some people do. Such is life on Forums & boards.
JimBo is a valuable resource where cues are concerned and he's intelligent and funny, but he is an expert at knowing which buttons to push too. He was permanently banned and then it was changed to a 3 month ban after an outcry and reconsideration. As they say in "Bridge On The River Kwai", "be happy in your work."
I like the idea of starting off the New Year by allowing ALL banned members (except Fast Larry) to be allowed back on the board. The ones that were the most problems would be watched very carefully and they would be banned forever (once again) at the first sign of trouble or stirring the pot.
If you like this idea, push for it, but don't go whining and protesting and calling for Moderators to be removed if a previously banned member is once again banned. Despite the public outcry, I appreciate Mr. Wilson and the job that he is doing.
The IPT, betting on pool matches at Stan James and International Tournaments has brought hundreds of new members to the online Forums and they don't know the previous history of the posters, the cliques, the inside jokes, the 'hot buttons to push' and many have serious reading comprehension problems.
The bottom line is that JimBo WILL be allowed back, if he chooses and all will be right with the world.

This is flat out wrong. Untrue. Nobody posted anything comparing the owner or moderator to Nazi's, Hitler, ... Making incorrect but provocative statements (presumably based on heresay, not an actual desire to fan the flames of conflict) only makes matters worse.djkx1 said:

It was exactly as I said, a clear and unmistakeable comparison between this site and the Nazis. I believe it has since been removed, and rightfully so. Either by the original poster or the moderator. I read it in disgust, with my own eyes. Period.
