Pretty sure i said nothing about 'high stakes' just the need to have something riding on the outcome. Playing 1P for nothing is not much of a game.

Ther Phillipines is a country, but produces top Pool Players, guess it is like their Baseball. Every kid in America wanted to be Micky Mantle, or Willie May. In Phillipines it Efrink, or Jose.
Kids need hero, local heros.
Hmm. Reading above the lines I guess. Still, DCC. Wouldn't go there just to show off for sure.
Not everyone at DCC bets sky-high. Plenty of $20-50/game 1p action there.
In the most simple terms one pocket is a "roll the ball"
game.(pocket speed shots) Rotation pool is a "stroke the ball" game.
You need precise equipment to play one pocket on.
With the humidity and questionable equipment
rotation is much better game.

The reason is far more cultural than anything to do with equipment. Rotation has always been the game over there. Pool took off after US took over the place in late 1800's. 1P wasn't even on the radar when pool got popular there. Efren never played it 'til he went to Chicago. He's the reason they play it now.
I was thinking more along the lines of since Efren has
brought it there, most of the streams they show are
still rotation. In open air places, on questionable equipment.

Partly true but the Filipinos don't just show up and play the best one pocket in the world. They must play it in the Philippines indoors with air conditioning and good equipment.

They do not! You will rarely see a One Pocket game in the PI, unless one of the players is a foreigner. Almost 100% of the action is Rotation or Ten Ball, with 9-Ball third in order of preference.
The funny thing is that when there is a foreigner who wants to gamble at One Pocket (like JH) they will accommodate you. The better players have more than a passing knowledge of how the game is played, thanks to videos and streams. They will occasionally practice the game among themselves. Just because you don't see them gambling with each other, don't think they can't play One Pocket, because they can! I found out the hard way more than once.
On another note, it is rare to find a poolroom in the PI with Aircon, as they call it. Most indoor rooms have fans only. Learning to play there is like learning to play on a gaff table. It seems like every room has different equipment (most of it second rate) and different conditions. You will find many small rooms that are outdoors in the sense that they only have a roof overhead, with all sides completely open. The best playing conditions are usually found in the bars that have only one table (always 9'). I've played on some pretty decent equipment in bars, with clean tables that have been cared for, that don't roll off too badly and have good rails. The best tables over there tend to be Brunswick Metros that are brought in from China. You can buy one new for around $1,000 (about 45-50,000 Pesos).
