Is Shane player of the year?

He is 40 years old and washed up and can't play. 799 of his Fargo rating is his break, with the remainder of the rating representing luck. JKJK...long live the king....stellar accustats ratings in that performance against Yapp should...well...shut some of the other yaps...lol.

SVB for POTUS 2024...

Yea I noticed that theres lots of commentary when he doesn't win it all no matter how high he places and he always places high..., but these wins have quitited the noisy!

If he aint the King he's a title contender with few rivals!

I never said he’s washed up but it seemed he didnt have the drive anymore to be the best. He was still finishing in the top group but he couldnt seem to get past that last elite group and they looked visibly better then him . I really felt he was mailing it in. Like it was a job But this year he’s proved me wrong. Hes been on a tear and really looked choked up when he won the 8 ball worlds. Im glad I was wrong. It takes a lot when you’re on top to stay on top and not get satisfied and complacent. The tiger woods and jordans of the world are rare. its easier to get complacent when your making millions though which you certainly aren’t doing as a pool player lol

i don't know, who are the other contenders? filler, lil ko? filler won 100k in two tournaments, i know that. did lil ko win anything other than the US open?

edit: checked the moneyboard, shane is 30k up on lil ko, filler is 30k up on shane, gorst is about the same as filler there at the top. now world titles weigh more than just money imo, but how much more?

Very true the willie Mosconi, jack Nicholas & Larry bird were even more rare

I think aging pros lose much less of their skill than the heard tends to believe. Whenever nostalgia comes into play, people's memories tend to "grow". At this point, we can go back 15 years, maybe even 20 and people were talking about how much better Earl played during his prime than in say 2005-2010. But that's not what my eyes were telling me. I actually thought Earl continued to improve for a long time past he's supposed prime.

I think the same thing about SVB. Certain areas of his game have continued to improve. I really think that's the norm for great players. The trouble is -- the proceeding generations continue to raise the bar and certainly many players get passed by. I just don't think it's due to their skills diminishing as much as it's the new players raising the bar. People say Efren's prime was in his 20's or 30's. I don't know about that. What I saw was a guy get more and more crafty with age. It seemed he took his newfound one-pocket knowledge and became even more of a threat into his 50's. He was never the overwhelming shotmaker like Earl or many of the present day players are.

Of course there are caveats. Some players do fall off. Usually because of lack of interest or health issues. Once they realize even their best standard can't get them over the finish line against the new top dogs -- they call it a day.

Bottom line -- SVB's best days are only behind him if that's what he chooses.
