Is the 3 Cushion game picking up like the pool game is?

I see there is a Predator 3 cushion world cup going on in tandem with the Predator/CSI 10 ball world championship. How is this discipline of cue sports doing in general? Has it had an upswing the past few years as pocket billiards has?

Not really. Billiards has always been popular in a couple dozen countries (not USA of course), where pool seems to have gained in popularity in 30-40 countries in the last handful of years.

I hope so. That would be amazing.
I hope so too.

Looking like it is on the upswing in the DC area

I've always like 3C

Their is a 3C hall across town from me. They do have a Gandy.

I'm suspecting that this place is some type of front. They do have a huge card room in the back. It's a Vietnamese place i played their once the owner seemed like a cool guy, he let me play free.

I wish 3c would pick up more. I've only ever played online but it's beautiful and I've gotten to the point where I'm about 75% able to predict the shot the pros will take on at the table. Unfortunately it's much less approachable than pool in appreciating what's going on if you're new to it.

It's definitely grown, but I think it's hard to get into. The learning curve is pretty big for beginners.

My point is, I've seen many pool players who are interested in 3c but most of them don't stick with it.
Even more so with straight-rail.

I hope it grows more.

I think it's pretty hard to make 1 point playing straight-rail or carom billiards. Much harder than making 1 ball in pool. I bet more people can run 3 balls in pool than run 3 balls in carom billiards.
Three ducks maybe. You can set up easy billiards and beginners would soon get the idea. I don't think they'd are as well on easy pool shots.

I think billiards has an easier entry point than pool. After all, you only need to move two ball with one shot.

not so much, basic carom game straight rail, if you can even hit the break shot, balls are all over the table. much harder than shooting at alot of optional balls near one another in 8 ball

thats why americans dont play, its much harder for a beginner to get interested and having fun
