I asked Deno this at the DCC and he said that they're not listing the entrants due to the specific reason you stated. Basically they don't want to encourage or discourage entrants.

I'm fine with that. Anyone wishing to participate knows it will take world class pool to win one of the two spots. I suspect that practically all of those who show up have demonstrated they are capable of such play.

I agree and when Deno explained it to me, I told him that I thought that made perfect sense.

LOL, SJM & I thought the same thing.... I guess this means that I haven't completely lost my mind and can still think rationally sometimes. :p

As in the last three qualifiers I expect them to post on their website when the tournament is full. I expected that yesterday but now most likely they will do that today. And the list will not be posted until the brackets go up the day of the tournament.

One thing I couldnt understand, and maybe you can help Jake since you work for the IPT? :D

The first two events where listed as "Full" but there was only 40ish players in the field resulting in byes, the last event was also listed as "full" but again there was byes and curiously about double the entires of the other events?

full probably means in IPTese that they are not taking any more entries.

If Steve Knight does play I would love to see him get his tour card, as I understand Steve hasn't played a professional event in quite some time so it will be interesting to see if he's on top of his game, if he is he will definitely suprise a few people who either haven't heard of him or haven't seen him play before.

but making the list know would make it alot easier for people to decide whether it is worth the drive from anywhere. that is my reasoning behind this. everybody says that WU is going to be there. how does anybody know for sure without a list or atleast a partial list. i hope this explains my reasoning for asking this question. i still feel it would be nice to know for sure.....................mike

Correct again. :D Perhaps it should say "closed". I'll have to send a memo to Deno.

Which is exactly what they're wanting to avoid. They want the folks that aren't afraid of anyone or anything and are willing to "put up & shut up" by their skill alone, not by who is or isn't playing in the qualifier. ;)

I understand that Timberly. but i am talking more from a spectator point of view. i would love to go watch but i would also like to know who is there before i come over there. it is a 4 hour ride for me..............mike

I see that the 4th qualifier is now closed. In just about 25 hours the brackets will be posted on the IPT website.

I wonder if the IPT is using a computer to randomly select the positions on the brackets? I saw a nice little, cheap, program that the KBP Amatuer Tour used last week. Put the names in, press a button, and viola, there is the chart.

Then too, what if they are seeding players in this qualifier who played in previous qualifiers?

It shouldn't be much of a surprise as to who will be there. Just look at the previous qualifiers and see who won a paid entry.

Taking the entry fee into consideration and the entrants from the previous qualifiers, I think it's safe to say that it would be well worth it. That's JMO.... I personally would drive 4 hrs. I wouldn't drive anymore than that but that's because I hate to travel too far in a car.... I'd rather fly. ;)

Here ya go Mike... Personally, I think it would be worth the drive. ;)
