I'm up in Fargo right now and was planning on going to the Derby and try to get there for the 9 ball.

Can anyone tell me if there is smoking allowed in the playing areas. I know Kentucky is a smoking state.

If they do I'm passing. could someone let me know.

Thanks.......

Unless it has changed, there is no smoking allowed in the tourn room. You can smoke in other areas.

How about where the vendors are?

I was there on saturday and no one was smoking in the main tournment area. However, many were smoking in the halls.

I was planning on being in a booth with a friend of mine to work with Perfect Aim. If there is smoking out there I have to pass. I get too sick.

Are these halls where the vendors are at'.

Geno,

I just got home from the DCC.. No smoking in the playing areas but smoking is permitted in the hallways & vendor areas.. FYI

The halls are massive and the vendors are lined up up and down an entrance hallway for the most part.... Would be real hard to notice the smoke in that area... The gambling area and tables setup outside the main room are a different story

How's it going...........

thanks for the info. That settles it for me. What a shame.

Can't compromise my health.

Hope your doing well yourself health wise.

And pool wise.

have a great week

Geno,

I don't blame you.. Like others said, the ventilation is great in the vendors area, very little smoke. Tourney room is smoke free which I love.

I can't stand smoke and the only time I really could smell it was in the hallways upstairs.. YMMV

My health is good, thanks. Cancer free for now, hoping to stay that way.

Pool game is getting better, I had a couple of rough draws in the DCC but I played about as well as I can so no worries.

Will continue to work hard and love the game.

Hope you are getting that shoulder back into shape too.

Peace, JoeyK

Louisville banned smoking several years ago in the last years of the DCC in Louisville. KY may still be a smoking state but Louisville is not a smoking city. If they move it back to Louisville in the future.....you know what to expect.

I smoked for 37 years and was up to 3 packs a day when I quit in 2001. I dislike smelling it now but I think the health risks from second hand smoke are overstated. As long as you're not locked in a poorly ventilated area with a bunch of smokers it's easy to ignore.

Imagine if you bought a bar or a poolroom and the State came along and told you what your smoking policy would be. That's outrageous ! Owners should have to state what their smoking policy is on the door or anywhere outside. The customers should have the right to go down the street to the next place if they don't like it. WTF @ the State telling the business owners how to run their establishments. Just my take on it. I'm a Libertarian about it I guess...Tom

Just looking out after myself is all........

Hi Tom,

Just looking after myself. I smoked for 13 years. Then i bought a bar and breathed in second hand smoke for 13 more years. I had some health issues but I never blamed them on the smoke until after I was out of it and things got much better.

Then i go back in the second hand smoke for just a little bit and all these bad things start happening to my body like having trouble breathing at night, inside of by nose getting raw, eyes burning, scalp itching and even breaking out in boils on my head.

I stay out of the smoke and these things don't happen. I can't imagine getting cancer from someone elses, bad for them also, habit.

I'm 57 right now just trying to stay as healthy as I can as long as I can so I can play pool and teach a little.

I'm not afraid of dying but as long as I'm around I just want to have as good of quality of life as possible, and that includes not having to carry an oxygen tank around with me.

I tried to play in places that had the smoke and it was a total disaster playing and for my health. I'm sure many other players feel the same way.

The doc explained it to me like this. he said the chemicals that are in the smoke build up in your body. Your body can't get rid of the toxic chemicals as fast as they are coming in. Especially as we get older.

Most people that are where I'm at on this toxic level treat the smoke like the plague. Until your there nobody would really understand.

Have a great day. geno. I pass now with even a wiff of smoke.
