It could be, I have heard of antique tables going for as little as 500$, for 4,000 I'd expect it to be in very good condition.
What model is it?

Yes, mine was bolted horizontally also. I had new rails, pockets, and cloth put on it. It played decent, but I always got a "hollow" sound or feeling when the balls were rolling. The slate was 1" thick with 1" wood underneath the slate. In my opinion, for $4,000, I say buy a Gold Crown. It's up to you though. If you want the antique, then go for it. This is not the actual table I had, but it's exactly the same. Mine was in much much better shape.AuntyDan said:
