It seems every time I get a private message on AZ my computer slows way down. It's still slow after I read and delete the message. The cure for it seems to be when I delete the message from my e-mail that told me I had a message at AZ. It happens with EI & Firefox and I have Yahoo e-mail. Thank you. Johnnyt
 
It's posssible

if it is executed as a sub routine of the main software, and then returned to the main module, but unlikely.

What you should probably do though, is to check for 'Spyware'. Spyware will infiltrate your machine and spread like a virus throughout to where it will slow your machine down to a crawl. I was having problems, even though I have AVG virus and spyware protection until I got Max Spyware Detective and Registry Cleaner. They take care of everything real good.

If you don't have it, I suggest that you try Spybot Search&Destroy. It is a great searchtool for Spyware, and moreover it can adjust settings in IE and Firefox that block future spyware from several notorious sites.

And the best of all: It's free.

Yes...I will second that. I use this, along with Adware (it's free also) and seems to work fine.

one other thing I like and I have mentioned it before on AZ for those who are having problems with their computer and need help, (as I have used them several times now), is go to http://www.geekstogo.com and click on their Technical Forums. There, they give you a list of items to check to see if you have malware on your computer.

Also, I use their free version of AVG software. This is a anti virus program that I feel actually works better than SpyBot and gives less ads of them wanting you to puchase the full version. Also has email scanner built in.

If you post a problem with your computer, they have a search program called HighJack This. You load this, post it in the forum and one of the technicians will come on and solve all your problems and get the computer running like new again. This program actually lists all the problems in the registry and by seeing this list, the tech can discover where your problems are located.

It is a little lengthy process because there are some many using the forum, but, well worth the wait. And, the other great thing, is it is FREE.....:D

That is why you should. They have discovered that this is not the proper program anymore after someone else bought them out. They have listed it and made everyone aware of the circumstances. If they wanted to infest your machine, they wouldn't have posted the problem, would they..:rolleyes:

I think they have made other arrangements or have links to the old system before it was changed. Read through all the posting. If not, they will still help you, but, they will ADVISE you not to download HighJack This as they previously did.

Or, don't use it. I don't get any "jelly" from you using it. I was just trying to give other ideas and possible solutions to the OP's problem...:D

I understand and appreciate that you are trying to help, but in light of what was posted today on that sight, I thought possibly that your opinion may have changed.

I am fairly new to computers and I do not have all, if any answers, but I have learned to be cautious and this sends up red flags to me am I wrong to be cautious of this?

Yes, I understand what you are saying, but, I think they posted this in order to inform the people that this option is not available anymore without reports being sent to the new organization/buyer of the system. However, not using this feature, there are still methods that they use to eliminate spyware on your computer. There is also a Panda Scan that they use to find spyware. They do not insist that you purchase the system from Panda, but, use their FREE scan to let them know what spyware is present on your system and use that information to eliminate it.

I can say, I haven't used it in a while, but, everytime I have used it, they have been very helpful, informative,, and eliminated every type of spyware I have had, (of course, I go to a lot of porn sites)...:D

As stated before, you can go there and download, Spybot, AVG anti-virus program, along with eight other programs to eliminate spyware on your copmputer and not ever talk to them. I think it is a great site. JMO
 
Oh, one other thing I might mention. This site, along with many other sites, exist only because of the ads that they sponser. But, you do not have to purchase anything to get the free advise.

I only use what they have listed as free products and what they suggest. After you eliminate all the spyware, they have you delete all those programs. You do not have to purchase anything to eliminate problems with your sysytem.

Reviewing the site, the AVG anti-spyware that I suggested is the NOT AVG Anti-Spyware, it just the AVG. Scans that can be used to eliminate spyware originate on this page. Read it over, decipher it and make your own decisions...:)

I used the free adware myself until I found it was dropping its own adware into my system. There was a reason it was free! Don:mad:
