Three fouls? So, is three-fouling your opponent a strategy or a tactic?

Damned if I know! 😂

If that was my intent from the beginning, I guess I would call it a strategy.

How I get there might be tactics.

You can also loose after making 8-balls in a row, too.............

You've been watching me play! 😑

But regardless, my point was that you don't have to make the last ball in order to win. It's sure as heck not a bad goal to have though!

It’s a strategy to be willing to try it on weaker players but know better than to even attempt against a strong shortstop.

And maybe if your goal is to three foul then maybe you can be strategic about whether you think you can accomplish it assuming they cannot jump, cannot hit two rail kicks, or cannot even hit one rail kicks. Certainly informs the tactics employed with the safeties you execute.

It seems from the discussion that:

Strategy is whenever you are making choices.

Tactics is the implementation of the plan.

In that case, a single shot often includes both.

On the other hand, some of the discussion seems to remove the strategy part from the actual game on the table.
