it is that time, New Years Resolutions

My goal this year is to get 2000 practice hours in this year. I also want to compete and do well in the U.S. Open this year.

You will be a pool playing son of a gun!

If you put in the 2000 hours in serious practice you will be a monster player. If you just put it in on the table you will still be super strong. Enough time on the table and you almost forget that the cue stick isn't part of you.

What is the National Amateur tournament, and what size tables? Johnnyt

It is a once a year tournament. They have satellite tournaments all over the country where you go and qualify for the larger tournament that is held in Florida, or at least it was held there this year.

It is played on 9 foot tables, races to 7, a combination of 9 ball and 8 ball. Whoever wins the lag (or flip) can choose either to break or the game to start with. Once the game is chosen you play that game and then switch to the other game, if needed.

If you start with 9 ball, you play 8 games of nine ball. Once those are completed, you play 8 ball until there is a winner.

If you start with 8 ball, you play 5 games of 8 ball and then switch to 9 ball.

I would prefer it just be 9 ball, but it is a lot of fun to play in.

Pool related of course!
Mine is simple, nothing I need more than playing time. I want to spend more time on a table this year.

You said it perfectly amigo - more playing time....

Would like to go from 4 hours a week to 12.....that would really help.....also, would like to move up a level, but that is directly tied to playing time.....hopefully one will bring about the other

Win a slot at the National Amateur sattelite tournaments to go to the finals in Florida in November.

I played for the first time this year and won a few rounds before losing prior to getting the slot.

This year I want to win a spot to the larger tournament.

I want to beat JDB repeatedly to the point that he calls me "Daddy"!
