It Might Be Time for A Cue-Check in the pool rooms

With all the recent cues being stolen from pool rooms and other places, it might be time to have a little cue-check section behind the counter in pool rooms. Maybe a buck an hour to check your cue. A buck won't make the pool room rich and won't make the player poor. Most would never go over two hours having it checked. If you can't find a game in two hours, it's time to move on to the next room anyhow.

The one negative I see with this is that a couple of guys come in and go right up the the cue-check-in and rob it. Putting all the eggs in one place is always some what of a problem. Maybe have an old case with a cheap cue mixed in with something like Lo-Jack in it or have a delayed alarm in it. After they leave with the cues turn it on. Most likely they will drop them out front and run. If there stupid enough to come back in all pissed-off, you will have your double barrel all ready for them, saying, "thanks for making my day" BOOM. You also forgot 99% of players wouldnt pay a $1 to keep a $3000 cue safe. They would expect you to do it for free and take responsibility for it just to show your appreciation for their business.

Yes I did forget that part, but I think enough would. Johnnyt

I think the smart thing for business owners is to do if for free. Once you accept money there is an implied acceptance of responsibility for it. Legally I mean. If the get it back and say its dinged up...once you take money its harder to fight about it with an insurance company especially if no contract exists. JMO.

I think its just better to shoot people that steal cues on the first offense. One bullet each time should teach people better manners in the long run.

Johnnyt I love your idea, but as cueandcushion said, " ou also forgot 99% of players wouldnt pay a $1 to keep a $3000 cue safe. They would expect you to do it for free and take responsibility for it just to show your appreciation for their business."

whatever happened to just taking the cue with you wherever you go in the pool hall........I always break mine down when I go to the crapper and take it with me.

Some do as you do.

I don't think I'll be leaving my cue with anybody. Maybe in a locker but not a "hat check". (you gotta be a geezer to know about hat checks)

In my room most players keep their sticks with them, but I do have a few that are in here daily or almost daily that I have a place on the wall behind the counter for. I have a strict no person alowed behind the conter plus where I have them at is on camera. The tape catches them handing it to me and me handing it back over. The only thing is I dont charge for it, and never would because these are REGULAR regulars who like cue & cusion said I value greatly. Just what I do. Just a thought.
