Its that time!

Don't forget that Austin Murphy is the defending champ and coming off of a 16th place finish in Reno. Austin won at least 2 matches against seasoned pro players and it took Gabe Owen's 9 to 8 match cool him down. Congrats to Austin. Nick Tafoya's going to be tough as well. Maturity and a notched up game will serve him well. There will be others, perhaps a dozen or so that may have a huge impact on the outcome.

Yes, Landon is one of the favorites but I don't think he is "THE Favorite".

To be honest Tanner, I can't play a lick. I'm the odds on favorite in Vegas to go Two and out the fastest. I don't think I have a chance to win unless I get a incredibly easy draw. Which I don't think one exists. But then again you never know. In a lot of weekly tournys here the strong players get knocked to the losers early and I always have a chance of getting far ion the winners. Even though I never do it. I have the chance.:o My average run would be about 3 balls. Is that good enough to win?:p If it is than I'm a lock.....:cool: Well I'm still here in El Paso looking to match up with someone. I'm going to try clicks again. Well I hope everyone wishes this one ball runner the best of luck. I"m sure going to need it.

This KIDD can really shoot!! 10 yrs old, and I'm telling you, he can play. Good chance he's going to be the talk of the tournament. Keep your eyes on him.....

Too bad I'm gonna miss it, heading for Mexico on Tues.

Attached is a photo of Chuckie Holyoke from Mount Vernon, WA. Definitely an up and coming player. He is well coached and very competitive given the fact that he has only been playing 9 months. He opened a few eyes in the Reno last month and is very confident heading into the Nationals.

Its good to see so many young juniors getting alot better, thats what we need to make this sport better.

Lizzy hits em good. She has no fear! Plays against the big boys in Dayton and holds her own. She has beaten me before, (not that thats a yardstick to go by or anything) but she played very aggresive offense to do it.

On a side note little Billy Thorpe doesnt have quite the experience but he did take king of the hill in a tourny against adults. He had them all smiling and shaking thier heads!!!

Mystick, you might ask about Scotty. Africian American that plays a pretty fair game but seems a little concerned about meeting a good player.

Billy does shoot pretty straight. He won the artistic pool competition and placed 4th at vnea nationals. :eek:

Funny you should say that. I went to clicks today to play in a tournament. I got one out of the money but the format was pretty ridiculus. Well Anyway. Scotty wants to match me up with an older gentleman named Wilson. I saw this guy hitting balls and I knew I was already underdog. Plus This guy out of no where wants to match me up. The big DUH light is going off in my head that I got the worst of it. But What did I come all this way for. So Wilson tells me that he'll play me some, but only one set because he has to leave. So I said fine. At least I won't lose too much. We played a Race to 7 for 50. He went up on me 4-2 in a hurry and I ended up beating him 7-4. Then he quit. So Scotty wants me to show up tommorow but with him staking me. HAHAHA. Go figure right. He wants someone to rob me then he wants to stake me. Well If I play anyone it's on my own money. At least for this trip. That and everyone there told me to stay away from Scotty. He's bad action. So I did. But I'll be at that same clicks tommorow. Hope they are ready for me this time. Oh and if I play in that tournament again I'm fairly confident that I can win it. I just wasn't used to the format. Well Hope that helps you gauge my game powder. Tony, I don't know much about action in El Paso, only been there a couple times. I think you probably did well not having Scotty back you though.

Haven't been in Tucson in a year or so but if you have the time there are three poolhalls in order of action I know of, Mainstreet Billiards, another Clicks, and Pockets. Probably you would have to get an Arizona rating to play in one of their tournaments, most likly not worth your time. The guys giving lessons at Mainstreet can match you up at about any level you want if they are still there. Only well known name I can think of is Tom Neils, a pretty strong player.

can somebody give me an idea of the average speed for the 19 and under players?

i'm 19 myself and have NEVER matched up with another kid my age that took pool as seriously as i do... so i would really love to know where i rate among my peers.

if anybody is my age or close in the chicago area let me know and we can get together if you like.

Junior Nationals

When I went out there in 04 I think, the tournament was horrible in my opinion. The tables have the biggest pockets I've ever played on and the tournament spaces out like it's the US Open or something lol. I just ended up giving my last few matches away because I was so fed up with the tournament, but hey maybe it was just me. As far as the fields go, there are usually only about 5 kids from each bracket that can play. Nobody can beat Justin though in the long run unless Jon Morra is playing. Justin is just too seasoned for the competition. Oh yeah, and make sure your hotel is real close to the campus because you'll be leaving the place a lot because it's so packed, trust me lol. I know for me this tournament will be the closest thing to the US open that I get to actually play in. So I guess I don't mind the format. And if the tables are easy than that is somewhat an advantage to the weaker player. On a tough table i don't think anyone can beat Justin. He's too smart of a player and can out move you as well as out shoot you. With big pockets and nap cloth, if justin makes a dry break I am very capable of getting out on an easy table. I can get out on a tough table too but not nearly as often. I think personally that this gives the weaker player a chance at least. Well Good luck to all out there.
