I've never been to SBE and I'm thinking seriously about changing that...

Can anyone here tell me anything about the local hotels from their own experience?

I'm on a facebook group form Puerto Rico and a good bunch of them are excited to go there. It sounds like they have lots of good tourneys going on. I'd like to see it too. My hubs has been out that way (not for this expo), he said it was nice.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn a few times, they have a shuttle bus. Depending on the arrangement SBE, it may run extended overnight hours during the weekend. It's your standard level convention hotel. Wi-fi, refrigerator, and 32" HDTV. If you want something more upscale, try the Sheraton across the street. The Hilton is my choice for any thing hosted at the NJ Convention center. Harold's, a New York City styled deli, is on the same block as HGI. It's within walking distance, and a pastrami sandwich is good for two people.

Feel free to ask more questions, and the more specific the better.

Thanks a ton! The deli is a big + IMO. I've stayed at a HGI before, decent for sure.

Thanks, TKD. I looked at the stuff on that link but I was more hoping for some personal accounts by people who have stayed in some of these joints. I do appreciate the effort though.

If you expect to rob the event, think again. If you go to have fun first, then try to make some money, you will have a great time. To some, the cue expo alone is worth the trip. You will probably never see so many works of (wood) art in one place anywhere else in the world. Most of the top cue repair guys will be there.

I've played for over ten years. Been reasonably successful. Haven't won an event yet. Been back playing Sunday many times in various events. Made some money on the "challenge" tables. Not much really. Concentrate on the main objective. Some players go only for the "challenge" tables. Better know who you're playing before betting it up.

Guarantee you will be paid if you win some event money. Allen ALWAYS pays. If you attempt to play in the Open, Seniors and Super Seniors, be aware the scheduling doesn't change because you have conflicting event times. YOU will have to choose which event to forfeit.

Go. Have fun. Meet some AZ'ers. Watch some Pro pool. Have fun!!!

Last year the venue sucked a bit for us. TAP Canada booked our hotels and they were about a 20 minute drive away. This year I think we're closer. It was a good time last year. Tons of vendors, action, long hours.

Hey Jesse were do you play is gradys the only room. around. i live in columbia. for the last year an hate. it.am going back to ct. just for pool

Hunter, are you talking about a warm pastrami sandwich on rye with a big pickle?

I just became hungry.

Yeah Grady's is pretty much the only option round these parts. I don't like it either but we don't have a choice here. I took about 3 years off until here recently. My name is Kevin Brown, do I know you?

My name is darrell Nixon don't. think we know each other i wil be Thursday. for the tournament

Well good luck to you Darrell, I doubt I'll make Thursday but there's a chance I'll be there Friday.

What part of CT are you moving to?

Cool cool, my long lost best friend lives in Waterbury. I spent a month up there several years in a row. Definitely some good poolrooms around there for sure.

I dont know about the hotels in this particular area so I went with a cheap one via Priceline. Ended up just under 4 miles from the place. I am not picky, but I dont spend any time in the room other than sleeping which is very limited. I am curious how this year will go with the new location. I am hoping its better than last years spot.

I went to the 1st SBE. Loved it. Bought a cue. Watched the ladies play.
Went again the following year...bought more cues. I'm currently in Florida during the Winter so I cannot attend. Definitely go if you can.
Who said Harolds?
