I've just got home from Amsterdam Billiards, and I'm black and blue after being pounded in three races to 150 by SJM this weekend, never even getting to 75 in any of them. I consider myself a strong B+, borderline A Straight Pool player, but I need to find a new level to my game to compete with this standard of play. Watch out NYC visitors!

Boken-man,
Have you considered sharking??? It's worth a try. Or you could practice.

I personally think I can beat SJM with just another 2 or 3 hundred years of practice.

After all I have heard about SJM's game, the next time I get to New York, Amsterdam Billiards will be my first stop. I haven't a clue when that would be. Not for a few years I don't think, but something to look forward to.

Next time wet the tip of his cue stick when he's not looking, I've heard this works. Of course I've never stooped to anything like that myself! LOL!!!

SJM,

Lighten up my man. No one is going to want to go to NYC to play you anymore!

Thanks for your kind words.

Yeah, I caught a stroke this weekend on you, but as we all know, a player should not be judged by his best game but by his average game.

The truth is, your improvement of late has forced me to bear down a little more, and our weekly straight pool hookup is, to a point, restoring my pedigree. It is probably five years since I played this much straight pool in one weekend, and it felt good.

Here's to more great games of straight pool and I'll be sure not to drop my guard. After all, next week, it may be your turn to shine.

Always so modest and humble sjm. Come on, we know you can play, you should admit it already, instead of stating "caught a new gear" or "getting lucky" or something... ;)
