ivory cue ball

I have seen them go on eBay between $50 and $120, depending on their condition and the current demand.

Ivory has rings like a tree. Ivory shrinks radially with age, causing a delamination between the concentric bone layers. When I bought my ivory CB, I liked the signs of age because it made the ball look more interesting.

That is a very good question, first most people do not know it but there are two types of Elephant Ivory hard and soft. Ivory balls as collectibles are great items, however, many are being cut up today for cue parts depending upon their individual condition. It most case Ivory ages very well depending upon how it is stored throughout the years. If it is cracked chiped and pitted the value is greatly decreased because they are not really good for anything excpt a conversaion peice.

Another factor that influences the value of an Ivory Ball is the balls size. The samller the ball the less they are generally worth unless they are part of a marked set that used dyed or engraved numbers.

Take care
