Hi there,

Can you please tell me what are the advantages/disadvantages of having ivory joint put on a cue ? I tried to find this information and I couldnt find anything.

Any opinion would be appreciated.

Tricky subject

IMO

Playability = None. Some players think it plays the best, others don't, and still others couldn't tell the difference in the playability. Me, I say none.

Resale = More return on your investment, most of the time.

It definately adds to the value of the cue. As for playability, everybody has their own opinion.

I personally don't care for the hit of Ivory. I put an Ivory Joint on the cue I just built myself because I like the looks. I sleeved it over Phenolic. In my opinion, it is the best hitting cue I've made.
 
Some find the feel and sound of the joint pleasing. And the looks are the best part. The down side is they are prone to cracking.
