are these cues any good? not sure which of the J&J J/B cues i am referring to here since all i know is that if i buy a certain cue i will receive a J&J J/B cue free of charge.

just wondering if anyone has ever hit with one? and if i decide to sell it without ever hitting it will it bring anything on EBay? its my understanding its valued around $90.

thanks,

They are very good for the money. In fact many of the parts are made where the Sledgehammers were made in China. They Retail for about $90, however, they sell for anywhere from $40 to $70 most places. Chrisonline here at AZ has sold them for as little $37 shipped on this forum.
If they are the Butterfly Splice model, they normally cost a little more than the Burgundy stained, Palm wood, or plain Maple version.
Sounds like a great deal to me!

Good Luck

Just tried one for the first time 2 days ago (plain BEM) and I was REALLY impressed. Best break cue for the money I have come across yet. On the hunt for a butterfly model myself!

I bought one from Chrisonline, who posts on this forum. I have a butterfly type and have been very satisfied with it. I'm not a very good jumper but it breaks great. JMHO

I've got one as well . . . excellent break cue for the money. I was using a Players J/B . . . pretty good for under $100 but the J&J has much better feel and solid hit. Just can't bring myself to buying a $300 break cue, but for the money the J&J is best I've found.

I have

bought 2, the last one from Chrisonline, for my brother. Both are the Palmwood model which I like a lot. I have 2 shafts for mine. They break and jump great, especially for the money.

The only one I rate better is the X-Breaker and/or X-Jumper. I do plan to get an X-Jumper in the near future as it is the best Jump cue I have ever tried.

Ever try the Stealth? Larry Nevel uses the Bunjee and the Stealth. He says any of the phenolic tipped jump cues will jump well, but that the Stealth, with a leather tip, is more accurate. Based on that, I bought one, and must say I agree with Larry on the accuracy point. I have a phenolic tipped jump cue, and have gotten over a full ball that was less than a ball's width away, in competition. Give the Stealth 2 balls distance, and I'm over the blocker with ease, and it is very accurate, and applying english with it is a breeze.

If you are looking for just a break cue, J&J makes a cue called Spark Break.
I purchased one a couple weeks ago and I am very happy with it.
It comes with 3 different weight screws and is a very solid, two piece cue with a phenolic tip.
I paid a total of $77.25 with shipping from ebay and they run for $99 on the sites I have found.

I hadf one for a breif period of time. It had the 1 piece phenolic tip and ferrule. I cracked the tip of the ferrule in when breaking and upgraded to an xbreaker.

It is still a great cue for the money and for free, you cant beat it.

IMO the best break cue for the dollar bar none! I play a Predator Bk and have broken with a Varney, X-Breaker, and Gulyassy. There is a difference of course, but the J&J is $300 less. Great cue! Jumps well too.

But I have had other jump cues with a leather tip including a Frog and a Scorpion. The X-Jumper with the X2 tip and bowling ball 1/2" ferrule is the best, bar none. I have jumped with others like Bunjee, Jacoby, Lucasi, etc.. The X2 tip is twice as hard as phenolic with 'LEATHER' IN THE TIP.
You get over a ball less than a ball's width and still have control on the cue ball. I was an intermediary for a friend of mine that wanted one, and I got to try it out when it arrived, and did a write-up on it.

One thing I like about Richard at X-Breaker is he is constantly researching and improving his products to be better. The X-Jumper is just an example of that with the new X2 tip. I also like the looks of the X-Jumper (sorry, didn't have a chance to take pictures), Goncalo Alves butt, Ash shaft, bowling ball ferrule, X2 tip, neat screwed on bumper. The X-Jumper sells for $150 currently and is worth it, IMO, especially if you gamble.

The X2 tip is 79,000 psi, while phenolic is 37, 000 and 39,000 psi depending on type of phenolic tip. The X2 tip looks like phenolic at first glance, but the texture is slightly different and it is brown in color like a leather tip.

Crap ferrule

I bought a J&J from Chrisonline that has the white ferrule and phenolic tip. I don't know what the ferrule is made of but it almost immediately started developing burn/melt mark from grazing the cloth. Actual flat spots started showing up on the ferrule.

Keep in mind my previous breaker was a Cuetec and it never had any problems like that. I would suggest to anyone buying one that you get the one piece phenolic ferrule. If you're getting one for free you really can't complain though. I paid so I'm entitled.:)

I love everything else about the cue, breaks and jumps really well.
