Jackson

I have played a Jackson for the last two years, prior to that I had a Jacoby. I traded the Jacoby for the Jackson for two reasons, 1) I could not get more weight, 2) I wanted a custom cue that had a HARD feel.

The Jackon I have has a hard feel, I have a hercules tip on the shaft that may make the hit feel harder. You may have to adjust your stroke for this cue, but I don't think you can go wrong with a Jackson.

Good cue- better shafts

A friend had a custom 4pt with curly shafts- a super accurate player. I believe it was the shafts because they were thinner and stiff enough. He won a ton of cash and did very well in state and National events.

A Jackson Cue plays very nice and their quality is certainly above the average. In my opinon, the nicer cues of each company will be in the same neighbor hood with a Jackson Cue, a Pechauer, a good Huebler, ray schuler, a production schon will each have their little strengths. But, if each company gave one of their better above average cues, the Jacskson is not going to be out of place. This is just my opinon as I have shot with numberous cues from all the above.

Jackson Custom Cue

I do not know if I'm a little late in posting this but here it goes: I owe many Jackson Cues. My first Cue was a McDermott C-8 that I bought in 1981. Shot with that one for many years... Jumping a head... I heard many things about Predator Cues so I searched out a place to get one... I ended up at Jackson Custom Cue because it showed "Predator" when I was looking for one. After talking to Tony (owner) for a while and looking at all the Cues and how he made them... I decided to have a (my first) Custom Cue made. To make a very long story short... I love the hit of my first Custom from them more then any other Cue I've shot with. BUT... it is the only Cue I own that has an Ivory Joint. Three different people from three different States told me "If you like McDermott Cues you'll like Jackson Cues". None of these people knew each other. After a little research I did find out the partner at Jackson Cue (Mike) worked for McDermott for many years back in the early years. I did own a Ivory Joint Richard Black Cue (that I should have never sold) and own over 50 Cues right now (mostly McDermotts). Even though many Cue feel almost the same (to me) ... every time I take out my first Custom Cue from Jackson with the Ivory Joint I can not explain the feel of the hit... I try saying you can't tell when you hit the ball because it hits so nice... The other Jackson do hit a bit different then the Ivory Joint one. I don't use it in the Winter and never break with it. The second Jackson Cue I probably shoot with more often. My third Jackson (the one I get the most comments on) is also the least expensive one... a plain... but solid... Snakewood Cue with double Gold rings (2 sets in the Butt & a set in the Joint) . The Jackson Cues are great!!! They are a very good quality Cue. Off the top of my hear I own Cues from 7 different Cue makers and I would put Jackson way up there if not the top. Don't get me wrong... I love McDermotts (the old ones) and maybe that's why I own the whole C-Series except one... and the Samsara Cue I own (is in the Blue Book of Pool Cues) I love... But to answer your question on Jackson Cues... You can't go wrong with a Jackson. (I prefer the non-stainless steel joint). *The Predator 2K6 I shot with for 2 years (1999 & 2000) and shot very well with it. Just thought I would add that in because almost all the Cues I shoot with do not have a stainless steel joint (the Predator does).

Thanks for the narrative on Jackson Cues. I have had one for years that was given to me for a pool debt back in '98 but I just recently discovered it was a Jackson. A vey plain vanilla 4 point cue with an ivory joint and green wrap and butt cap with the JCC initials instead of the script "JACKSON" on the butt cap.

I believe in Jackson so Much-

I helped Mr. Jimmy Wetch get sponsorsed with Brandon and David jacoby. We were just there 1 month ago. They are outstanding to workwith!!!! Bring your fishing rod the rivers really close! Jacoby is spending and Prouducing a shaft better than preditor and made in the usa with higher cost materials - results in a solid shaft that has less deflection, a completely better ferrule material (tenion package0!! Jacoby had an internet sale -all cues 500.and over got the Hybrid shaft!!- They are built sweet- you can put Schons side by side- they feel better and cost less. I have seen them use prescious metals - like no others. the jesse james cues -with copper hand guns, gold and silver work-Ivory.-- They do more customs than anyother cue maker I know of. almost all 1 of a kind!!!! mark with unbelievable turnaround times and service.
