Jacoby's NEW Edge Hybrid shaft

I was just recently up there to pick up a raffle cue and saw and played with that new shaft. I shoot with a Predator 314 2 as we speak. I shot 3 or 4 balls with that shaft and wanted my own. This shaft is the real deal. Ive been shooting with Jacoby for years now. They have always been the best I could ask for. From replacing warped shafts to taking a broken cue in trade for a new one. The shaft feels better than my Predator in many ways. The overall balance is better, weight isnt in the tip anymore, and with them putting enough time into the shafts to know they won't have a difference in weight from shaft to shaft like predator. You know what you are getting from them. I can't wait to get my hands on this shaft in a month. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings this is IMO.

How was the deflection in comparison to the Predator and what tip size was this Jacoby shaft you tried?

New Hybrid Jacoby Shaft

I will have my new Hybrid shaft next week, I bought one from Dave Jacoby at the Derby City Classic and should have the shaft this coming week sometime. I will post a review as well.

and last but not least, WARRANTY -

The Edge Hybrid is the ONLY high tech, low deflecting shaft to come with a written lifetime warranty against warping and defects!!

oh, and BTW....it is made by cheeseheads (WI), lol - in the good ole US of A.

Thanks for the info on this shaft. I saw one in person and it looks very nice. Jacoby has always made a high quality product but I must correct you on the warranty. Lucasi Hybrid & Lucasi Custom cues and shafts also come with a full written Lifetime Warranty against warpage and defects.

Dave Jacoby makes How many cues and shafts??

I know of like, 5 shaft tapers and how many other cue names?? The computer cnc is worth like 500,000. a few yrs ago. He also gets Mich wood (highest quality) they know what happening!! He made me a regular shaft and I call it the trick-shot shaft! because it gets me out of those Jams, jumping, masseying , whatever!! mark

Its a nice shaft

I hit with the hybrid shafts at SBE 2011, Predator full line, OB full line, and Jacoby. Liked Jacoby the best. Brought my cues to the 2012 SBE and hit the Jacoby only, still like it. Will probably order raw shaft and have it fitted to my cue. I think they are pricey at 250.... 200 for a finished shaft would be more in line with category leading competitors.

I tried the OB Classic Pro and Z2 at the SBE. I liked the OB shaft better, but ended up taking a flyer on the Jacoby Edge Hybrid Shaft (11.9mm at tip and similar taper to Classic Pro/Z2). I could not be happier. It hits with the feel of a solid maple shaft and the taper/flex and light front end of the cue decreases deflection. I got mine with a Kamui soft tip which I also recommend. I am definitely getting more roll out of the 16 ball and translating more spin compared with the traditional shaft that I have been using. I am now considering checking out their break and jump cues from my experience with this shaft. Here are some pics and a link to info:

I'm a Jacoby authorized dealer and have yet to hear from anyone who has a Hybrid Edge shaft that doesn't love it. We actually became a Jacoby authorized dealer because Tony with Jacoby let my partner try a shaft at a local tournament and within 15 minutes he was getting us set up as a dealer. I personally prefer maple shafts, but would use a Hybrid Edge if I was a LD shaft player.

I just purchased a new Edge shaft.
Queztion how hard the Everest tip is. Feels like a break- tip.Shapes
like a break- tip when I sand on it.
What gives?
Shaft reminds me of a ob breakshaft.A hard solid consistant hit.

It's a medium hardness. Hardness scale of 75.6. A little softer than a Kamui Black medium(78.7). Harder than a Kamui Black soft(72.3).

I've had it on my Edge for almost 2 years and it hardly ever needs shaping, just a scuff once in a while.

My friend got two and does not care for them at all. The finish is terrible, laminates not smooth at all. The hit of it is not very good either. Hits a lot like a flat laminated shaft, pretty inconsistent. Ymmv

I've got one and love it. The finish s great, the laminates are silky smooth. The hit of it is great, similar to a solid shaft, very consistent.

Jacoby Edge Hybrid

I have purchased both the 11.75 and 12.75 shafts. Very nice, very solid and a great feel. One thing I have noticed is that I get a higher percentage of shots made by hitting the cue ball easy. When I try to make the same shot again using some power (to try and get position) my percentage of makes goes down drastically. The shaft does deflect..... as do they all.
