jamie bowman vs shawn putman

Here is an idea for you Jay. I have been sitting on this one for years and you might be the guy who can make it happen and make it profitable due to your gamblng experience and your line on players.

Have a table at Vegas set up just for you and your player to take on all comers in single games. You set up an odds board and let people bet according to the odds.

The swing looks hypothetically like this: If Dennis gets the break and ball in hand after the break then you give up 10:1, if the other player gets the break and ball in hand then they give up 10:1 and create a chart with everything in between. You know Dennis isn't going to dump you to anyone. Keep the bets small, like $10 maximum and I will predict that you will have them lined up for days trying to beat Dennis.

If you go for straight up action then no one will play without monster spots. Which is unfortunate. I'd like to know who really does rule the barbox. I guess in the modern era we won't see the legendary 3 battles of the past for barbox 9 or 8 ball with all these players unwilling to match up evenly.

I like Jesse but I thought he had a standing invitation to play ANYONE barbox 9-ball for at least a thousand a set.

Hey John, do you still stake Kelly Fisher? What do you think she would need from Orcullo on a big table? Would you back her? That sounds like a fun match to sweat. Being that Dennis was giving champions the 6 out, I guess she could probably get the same or more.

Sure, if Kelly Fisher can get the 5 out and the breaks, I will back her for $5000 per set with a 5 set minimum. Since he gave out the 6-out and all.

I don't want to steal or anything but she is a girl after all.....

Thanks for the suggestions John. I appreciate the input. As for Jesse's standing invitation, he must have forgot it in Reno. I do like Jesse's game though against almost any American player.

I've been there three times, and although most every hotel and bar has a table, they are all 9'. Someone someday will introduce 7' tables over there and make a fortune.

Be that as it may, I still say Dennis Orcullo (this is the correct spelling), on a Diamond 7' is the man I want to bet on. He handles those little boxes like he had been playing on them all his life. Especially at Eight Ball, where he had to weave the cue ball thru tight openings and break up clusters.

He absolutely dominated the two bar table Eight Ball tourneys he played in, both with super strong fields.

What I really mean Jay is Filipinos adapt faster than the other pool players
from other countries. It's like they're ducks to a water, if we're talking about
pool. I'm already 46 summers old and I've seen 8 ball played there once!
I swear in Camp John Hay, before the infamous IPT came along. And yet we
see Dennis, Efren, Marlon, Django, Ronnie and a host of others doing well in 8
ball.

Jay-
His standing offer is only good on his home court. games elsewhere are negotiable as he doesnt travel as much as he used to.

As far as the corey-jesse matchup goes; '06 dcc corey woofed, jesse bit, corey then wanted the 8... no game. This is what my roommate saw and heard.

There are 2 jamies(y) that I know of out of the moline area.. Jamey Bowman and Jamie(james) Barracks(wilson). Chad V usually travels with Jamie Barracks and they both play preatty sporty. Both have a very controlled disciplined game and wont quit even when down a few games. The Bowmans seem play looser and smoother but can make balls from nowhere especially Jesse. However, Chad has come to our weekly open 9ball tourney several times and cant seem to quit whining about something, cloth, lighting, table spacing, heat, cold, balls, always something wrong. He also doesnt get very far and ends up goin home early. Just my 2 on the subjects.
I would have had some of coreys action at the 06 dcc against jessie, bowmans backer just went off good and only had a thousand, we did not think that was a good bet for us so corey asked for the 8 knowing it would kill the game and we would not have to say they had no money left.
There are usually two sides to a story and you only heard one.

LOL the 5-out and the breaks is like stealing, even if she was playing a man who sold his soul to the devil to play perfect pool LOL....don't you want something fair? You have faith in your player don't you? It sounds like you dont!

no one here has thrown stevie moores name out there as a top american barbox player, but i promise you noone has to get there with stevie on the crackerbox. i think he won the us barbox title a few years back(?)

Like stealing? It is stealing!
Good luck, I hope you can get this game for your "girl".

Sorry Tech, I confused you with John Barton in my response. I realize now you were arguing my side.

When Matlock was supposed to be king of bar box. I saw him an Keith play at the Maverick club in Richmond, Ky. Matlock had Keith down 3 games I believe playing 8 ahead. Matlock got to kick on time before pay day for Keith. Keith shot at every ball an ran out from every where. One set an David M. was done. I bet on Keith that day. Keith put on some incredible
proformances at the Maverick in those days winning tournaments an gambling. When he hit his gear it was all over.

Yes he does, as good as any American player.

Shane has a good game; but I was with them one day and they could not get the match right. Shane said that he would not play Jessie on a 7ft because he said he could not win, and then he went on to say that he doesnt think anyone out there could stay with him (Jessie) for a race to 27 on a bar box. But he was willing to play heads up on a 9ft against him, and Jessie did not like that bet (plus there wasnt one anywhere around at the time). So they jawed around a bit and never played. It was a fun conversation to watch. You could see a lot of respect for each other's ability there.

By the way Ms. Jam, your little buddy would have scared even the filipinos in his heyday (on a barbox). Just like he did the rest of the world.

With the big ball, I liked Jr. Weldon and Bakersfield Bobby.

How good was Jr.Weldon? I have heard stories about him. He lives here now and plays cards I think. I haven't seen or heard of him playing any pool in quite some time.Years ago I did see him play some one handed pool that was pretty impressive.

i also think edwin montal is one of the best barbox players.
You sure are biased toward Canadians aren't you. I bet you'll start throwing out names like Potier, Tourangeau, Vidas, etc. in a couple more posts.

dj you are awesome. thanks for keeping this on target. maybe you should start a new thread that is only about JB. I sure he is enjoying the spotlight. I think he is the best player in the quad cities and a nice guy to boot. I wish more pool players could be like him. :p

Jamie if you are reading this "you are the best" and dj you are pretty smart guy too. can you guys come to des moines again? bring scott. jamie thinks that is a good game.

I am sorry, did you say Dennis was giving the 6 out to champions? Well the 5 out and the breaks ought to be no problem for him to overcome given all that I have heard about him. I have plenty of faith in Kelly to get there with that spot which is why I agreed to bet it.

Why should I take the same spot that stronger players lost with?

Where is your faith in Dennis?
