I know I already commented on this, perhaps it just boils down to a taste thing. bob Dylan used to be talented. Eddie Murphy used to be funny. Now, we have women making five grand a day because they post selfies of their asses on Instagram. And hey, if you don't have a nice ass, do stuff like this guy. I don't know it just bugs me. Its not funny, it's not creative... it's pretty much nothing, but hey people love it so I guess there's your answer on where we are nowadays. Call me crazy but I think the people that deserve attention are the ones who are actually funny, or actually talented, not just people who decide they want more attention so they do an interview with ostrich shit on their face or something.... "hey this guy did an interview with bird shit in his face" .... really wow, let's do a story on him.... a million Instagram hits later. So over the way things work nowadays.

I think it boils down to a reality thing. If you are expecting this pool player to be a professional standup comedian, then your reaction you describe sounds about right. Remember, this is just some pool player doing an interview. He has limited english skills. So he makes a joke out of that. There really isn't much more to it. I found it pretty funny in this context. It was just a guy doing a short interview. It was a funny interview. It doesn't need to be more than that, so evaluating it in terms of someone making there living as a comedian doesn't seem to make sense to me. If Eddie Murphy was on video shooting a few racks of pool, and doing it badly, I would still find it mildly interesting. I don't think I would be too critical of the quality of pool play. I don't think my reaction would be "leave the pool playing to the truly talented players". Finding the little joys in life is much more difficult, but far more rewarding, than scrutinizing situations for what is wrong with them. So, I'm mildly joyful that you shared your opinion about the fact that talent seems to be something our society values less and less. I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Correct here as well. The biggest draw in Pool the last 10-20 years has been Efren, who is very shy, but brilliant on the table. The second biggest draw has been Earl for very different reasons. He's a train wreck waiting to happen.

Are you sure "that hot asian chick" isn't a big draw? Pretty sure she was MILES ahead of the #2 pool player in terms of annual earnings for a good stretch. What exactly do you think her appeal is? She's a decent player, but not even close to the top men. Yet people watch her on TV way more than any man or (other) woman pool player.

It seems like you are agreeing that quiet talent is enough, and then immediately saying that Earl the trainwreck is extremely popular in pool. Which is it?

Sums up what is wrong with the world today.

He did a interview after he lost to Taipei with Ko saw a screen shot , couldn't find the interview, the guy plays pretty sporty also ,, call him a idiot if you like but he's getting the last laugh playing pool on the worlds stage and having fun and over there that comes with clout unlike here

That's my opinion on Oi....he's one of a kind....great for pool and has a lot of fun...
...and he can run out, besides.

Here's that pic you were looking for....has anyone ever seen Big Ko smile like that before?
....just after Japan got thumped by Taiwan (yeah, not politcally correct...but if someone
complains, I'll start calling them Formosa)
