Jasmin Ouschan for Hall Of Fame Thread

If you don't know how strong the fields over which Jasmin frequently prevailed were, you need to take a closer look. If you do, then let's just say we strongly disagree.

She competed and won on three continents and won many WPBA titles when ten current/future BCA Hall of Famers were found in every field (Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher, Karen Corr, Jeanette Lee, Gerda Hofstatter, Belinda Calhoun, Loree Jon Jones, Ewa Mayaya Laurance, Robin Dodson, Ga Young Kim), not to mention super-strong pros like Monica Webb, Xiaoting Pan, Vivian Villareal and Helena Thornfeldt, all of whom were ranked in the WPBA top three during their fine careers.

Jasmin was also the best straight pooler among women in European history. In that she regularly competed in the top men's events and had numerous top ten finishes, Jasmin was Europe's answer to Karen Corr.

She has been an enduring credit to the game and a good role model for women in pool. She has not only done enough, but more than enough and I'd be astonished if she's not found in the BCA Hall of Fame one day.
100%. 110%. But you don't get in on effort. She simply doesn't have the majors required to get in.

For women the rules should be different. Lets have that talk on a different thread.
I'd certainly be interested in why you think there should be different rules, and what would those rules be??? I know... you said to have the "talk" on a different thread. And I must be an idiot to even have these discussions.

I'd be interested to know what she has to win to get in, in your view. I see she has two Amway Cup Runner-Ups. If she had just won one of those, would she be a lock? I see a World 10-ball Championship listed. Is that a WPA event? Tour Champion and Masters Champion sound like majors. I have no idea if they really are. Nationals, US Open, Worlds... those use to be the known majors for WPBA (Stu, please correct me). And I think the Amway Cup was a major.

I think she's close enough that she'll get a significant amount of votes.

Women pro pool has fewer events, less payouts, and smaller fields.

Making women wait as long as men to gain HOF status is unfair in the economic sense.

The different rules would be to balance out for the lack of opportunities for women pros.

The career of a female player is also shorter. The incentives for a female pro to stay on tour are not as strong as for the males. If the career is shorter
the standards should be different at least for the age requirement.

Most male pros are single, women have clocks to start and raise families.

I don't think you have to worry about Jasmin having kids. I don't think she's the type that will have kids

Jasmin is to young but Def. Qualified for the H.O.F.
Also to note Grady Mathews has yet to be inducted.

It's more about who is not in vs her accomplishments. Worthy but not worthy enough.

Lets get in Niels, John S, Corey D and Ga Kim and then we can look down the list. If her brother was old enough I would put him in first. Sorry. Love her game and great ambassador but as they say....You need to be this tall to get on the ride.

Something I've pushed in the past, but not getting traction. A challenge is that Grady is viewed as "not enough" as a Greatest Player, and "not enough" as a Meritorious candidate. But in combination, my humble opinion is that he has done more than enough. But there isn't a combination category, unfortunately.

As a player, Grady could only get in on the Veterans Committee ticket at this stage. That's coming up next year, so the campaign is on. There are other worthy of Veterans inclusion (Wade Crane, Mary Kenniston, Jim Reid, Larry Lisciotti, Louie Roberts, Jay Bozeman, etc.)

If you want to lick her shoes, go ahead and lick her shoes. She is a lovely human.

The only thing you posted that could be construed as responding to the requirements question is she has to be inspired? Wtf?

Go hug a tree. Inspiration only gets one so far...
Hell, I'll lick her shoes.

That's absurd. It was the WPBA events that WERE the majors during much of Jasmin's pro career.
