Jason and Earl 9 ball

Earl played well. Wonder if this event was set up so he could show everyone how well he was playing when Mosconi wild cards are picked
 
It is common knowledge that Earl is still a very capable player, but one that chooses to sit out most of the significant pool events on the calendar.

if he shines at Turning Stone, the US Open 9-ball or the International 9-ball, he deserves consideration. If not, ihis selection would reek of corruption in a year where Matchroom has committed itself to being a meritocracy, and has lived up to that commitment by filling its invitationals based on merit, keeping the politics out of it to the greatest extent possible.

A Mosconi spot must remain the domain of those who choose to participate in and succeed in the sport’s premier events. The Mosconi spot at the end of the rainbow will encourage those most committed to their profession.

Matchroom has distinguished itself in the area of field selection for its majors and its invitationals. I both hope and trust that they will stay the course and not cave into politics in filling the Mosconi teams.
