there are 12 Boys/Girls Clubs here in vegas. i am only a little knowledgeable of one - the Leid Boys & girls Club. and Rocket354 here on Az is the volunteer who i met who takes care of the kids and takes care for pool for the kids.
i saw your post, called him [he is in Michigan now with family for the holidays], and he was speechless that you guys wanted to donate a quality table to the Boys/girls Clubs of vegas. Great Job!
His Club, has pretty good tables, but when he returns at the end of this holiday he advised he will check out all the other clubs and see which one most needs a good table for the kids.
thank you for your KINDNES & CARING for Our Kids!!
and Hangemhigh, we will of course give you the address and also thanks for your KINDNESS!!

Boys clubs still have pool as a central feature in their clubs. During the Obama campaign I was in a boys club in a black section of the city and was shocked to see an 8 table billiard room that was beautifully maintained in a boys club. There was about two dozen kids in there playing. I had originally thought about making some donation till I learned Wayne Huizenga was their benefactor. I don't think they need my few bucks when they have a billionaire. I may still go there and give a few lessons though.Fatboy said:A boys and girls club here in Vegas, Perhaps Smokey can help??

I believe some parents would show up if some posters were put up around town/city. It would show some kids and parents the other side of pool.
I really wish that we on AZ could do this on a national level. It could go like this. An AZer finds a good, but cheap table in their town. A group of AZer's pay for that table and the AZer or Azer's in that area that found it move or get it moved to a boys/girls club. I for one would do my part with a money donation and help find a table and get it set up in my area. What Jay and Eric did here was great for the Boys club and great for pool.
Think what what a national AZ Member group could do for kids and give pool some much needed good press and help get kids and parents into the game. One table $1000 or less, move, recover if needed, a clinic from a pro or instructor, posters put around town or city, and a write up in a local paper. I would think that there are decent tables that AZer's and others in the community would be willing to donate to this good cause. When I up-grade in a few months I'd donate my Valley bar box and help get it set up at a Boy's/Girl's Club in my area.
I figure with donated tables and buying good cheap ones it would average under a $1000 a table delivered and set-up. A $1000 a table is just a $100 for ten members or $50 each fo twenty. I believe the good press pool would get would be priceless, and get a ton of kids interested in pool. Johnnyt

Scott Lee said:I posted about this last summer, and made contact with Smokey, to teach some, and do a pro bono exhibition, as soon as I can get to Vegas! I was hoping to get out there next month, but it may not be that quick. The point is that I'm more than happy to do something for these kids (and hopefully their parents). I've done several shows at Boys & Girls Clubs around the country.
