Here is dedication, Jay's LA event from 2001, its late in a great match and Jay is doing his best to stay awake, you can tell he has worked tirelessly until it caught up with him at 13:09 Jay is clearly ZZZZ in the front row, doing his very best to stay awake. He is a true warrior. BTW this is a great match, they both dogged a coulpe shots and also made a few amazing shots. Thanks Jay. Also Fantastic commentary by Billy and Tony Anigoni.

Me too, I'm not sure how I found it. I was watching the match(something I never do on youtube) and I was looking at the rail birds to see who I knew and of course I spotted you right away, about 20-30 minutes they had a tight shot of you and you were rubbing your eyes, dead tired. Then I saw your head fall-I couldnt resist making the thread then. What a brutal day for JA 0-4(3 hill/hill) loses, This was when I was 100% away from pool and playing at home only-Wish I would have been there.

FYI this is an Accu-Stats match. Really shouldn't be on YouTube, but that's up to Pat to police. It was an Invitational Eight Ball tourney with eight premier players. They played round robin, so there were lots of matches.

Busted

I used to think golf had all the luck....lot of club members marshalling
and using their influence.
But for some reason this post made me think of all the good guys
that do things for this game.
I realized I knew a surprising amount of people in a few countries
that really help.

Jay is one of them.
And so are you Eric.
If either one of you pack this game in..I'll never forgive you

Well Johnny shot 3 balls in 7 minutes can you blame him?

There is a ref and cameras are rolling and not shot clock. The promoters that do this must think they are doing a favor for the players to give them all the time they want but in reality they are ruining the marketability of pool and ruining the pool player's bank accounts.

Hey, I think I was at this event . Was it held in Burbank, CA? I was working for Instroke at the time and we had a booth at this thing if it's what I'm thinking of. Jay worked his ta-tas off this event and deserved a little rest. I was able to watch a few of the matches and I think I may have been in the crowd.

I agree w/Jay that this does not belong on Ustream - it was an Accustats sponsored event designed for maximum matches taped. Very cool format.

Cool memory, thanks.

Yep, this event was part of the 2001 Los Angeles Billiard Expo held at the Burbank Hilton Convention Center. It was held in late October, 2001 only six weeks after 9/11. The Burbank Hilton would have let me cancel the event, because people were reluctant to travel at that time, but I went ahead with it anyway. We lost about 35-40% of our vendors, and maybe half of the amateur players who had signed up later withdrew. I took a bath to the tune of 20K, but no one wants to hear about that. Sad to say it was my last Expo.

Well John and I thought it was a great event...and some great pool. Sorry you got hit so hard. We drove from Colorado.

Busti came by our Instroke booth and started to complain about the bungie jump cue, because he recently got beat by someone using it while he was on the hill in a big event. He set up the shot and made it the same way complaining the whole time (jokingly, but serious). When I saw the video of the match, it was exactly as he described - I almost pee'd my pants..

Don't feel bad Jay it happens to all warriors! Here is our favorite you saw him ..... He wakes up and takes 2nd place and wins a couple thousand dollars not bad, in Sacramento about a month ago.

Check out his hands, praying I would say, but he ended up taking 2nd behind Bustamonte, not bad! I was watching his hands, he was not in that position long, maybe that is why he took 2nd place?

I had a few pics of JayH alseep with his head in his hands at the Predator 10 Ball in Phils this last September but I can't find them now.

They were at the 3rd tournament that he worked and was just beat!!

:)

The best matches you will find are at accu-stats.com. And I have some older stuff (pre Accu-Stats) available at jayhelfert.com. Good luck!

I tend to burn the candle at both ends when I'm over there.
Between working, playing pool and generally having fun (mostly with my daughter and her family) that doesn't leave a lot of time for sleep! ;)

I have to agree with this one. Anytime Johnny playes it is a slow match to watch. They should have used a shot clock on him. Think I would have took a nap to. Just watching it here was putting me to sleep
