He was a great player and an even nicer person. Jay left us about 12 years ago due to heart failure. I was luck enough to get to watch him play on a weekly basis when I lived in San Diego. I have a picture of him as my avatar. He was playing in a tournement here in Austin back in 1981.

Playing 9-Ball for big money, Jay was one of the best ever. He liked to play $500 or a $1,000 a game!
He had an enlarged heart which gave out on him while eating lunch one day. Jay was one of the most well liked pool players, by just about everybody.

I got the call when I was in Nebraska visiting my mother, it was May-June 1996.
He was always great to me. I was lucky enough to get a couple of lessons here in San Diego before he died. He was eating spaghetti, and had a heart attack. Jay said he had an appt to see his doctor the next day.
