Jay, I just finished your book, Pool Wars. What a great read! I loved it. Of course it helped that we are of the same vintage so a lot of the names in your stories were the same guys I knew or knew of. And since I primarily lived in the NYC area, I was familiar with the East coast guys. But your writing brought to life a lot of the West coast and mid-country players. Wonderful stories.

Anyway, I loved your writing style and the content. I breezed through it so fast, I was at the end before I knew it, and felt instant disappointment that it was over.

Nice job, my friend. Write another, please!

Thanks Ted. I'm glad you liked it. The best compliment I've had is all the people (like you) that said they couldn't put it down, and read it straight through in two days.

I will write another book (it's in progress). I hope you won't be too disappointed, because it won't be all pool stories. I've got something else in mind (and on paper) for this book. I will say this, it will be different!
 
When my copy came in the mail, I read it cover to cover in one sitting. Maybe six hours, not including bathroom and dinner. Now, if I can only do that with some of the text books I have to read. :-(

That's good news Jay! If it's half as good as "Pool Wars", we have something great to look forward to!

I could only read your book about 3 paragraphs at a time.
It wakened so many slumbering memories.I would read a little,then
re-live my own experiences.
The book took a long time to read,like having a 12 course meal.

Looking forward to the next one.
If it has some of your poker playing in it that will be just fine.....

Jay, is there anyway I can get a copy at a reasonable price? By reasonable I don't mean the book itself but shipping to Malaysia is always going to cost too much for me to justify purchasing this. It's near impossible trying to find good pool literature this side of the world.

i started to read Pool Wars about 11:30 pm or midnite the day i received it, and kept reading it till about 6:00 am till finished - it was that much fun...

bought another 2 books, one for my daughter and son-in-law [who also loved it] and for a a friend [who loved it too]

for those az'er's that did not read it yet, i am sure you will love it too

Heh, the total adds up to nearly RM100, no small figure around here. I'll get back to you if I decide to make the purchase. Thank you very much for the info, much appreciated. Looks like I'm gonna have to save up from my summer job.
 
Jay I gotta say this was one of the best books I've read not just a book about pool. The part where you talk about Crazy Bruce I laugh out loud everytime I read that. I can only imagine playing someone like that and having them compose their self until all is said and done and then going outside and running head first full speed into a brick wall...:D

I'll definitely be buying your next book!

just finished the book..excellent read. all these years on the forums i never had any idea the extent of your involvement in the pool world. i'm excited to read the next one!
