Wow it’s been 2 years now. What an amazing accomplishment by Jayson Shaw. New world record high run of 714 consecutive balls pockets. Thanks to Ara Shaw for pushing Jayson to set the World Record.
We are looking forward to Jaysons return to shatter his amazing World Record very soon at the brand new Legends Of Pocket Billiards Private Billiard Studio.
What is most ironic is celebrating a run of forty-five balls. The 714 run didn't happen and that was what was asked to be verified. The count wasn't restarted at zero so the decision to certify over six hundred balls ran was pretty strange. The seven fourteen didn't happen due to an early foul.
The six hundred and change would have been a hell of a run had they restarted after the foul. As it is, much ado about nothing. Had Shaw and his team restarted at the foul the 669 would be amazing.
Sucks but many other would be world records have been disqualified due to a foul. Trying to rewrite history and calling this a 714 is ridiculous. This is like setting a record for part of a downhill ski run after knocking over a gate. In this case going back to a claim of 714 is rewriting the rules of straight pool. Few if any long term players haven't fouled the same way. Why should it not count this time? The only thing amazing was the BCA calling it a 669 run after an unacknowledged foul. Like any other run, Shaw's ended with the foul.

I don’t think any record was broken based on the foul. However, the BCA certified 669 so I have to accept the decision. It’s now in the record books and nothing will change that. What isn’t in the record books is 714. So when certain people continue to insist that 714 is the record they lose all credibility in my book. 714 is not the record and never will be. Quit misleading people, and even worse, quit selling items that claim 714 is the record. Shame on anybody making that claim and that is trying to profit off of it.

don't follow this reasoning. why would it matter how the run started? the record is the consecutive number of balls pocketed in straight pool, not "the consecutive number of balls pocketed beginning with ball in hand and a common 14.1 solo practice break setup"..

Honestly he wouldn’t care. He is gonna beat his own high run. Also for all these people saying the 714 is not valid they just don’t know the specifics.
The high run is 714*669. The BCA recognizes the 714 but did not print it for the public. So it’s 714 under BCA rule #21 and 669 under WPA Tournament rules. If you don’t wanna believe this then simply call the BCA and ask them. I’m the only person that has been through all of this besides Shane Tyree and Ivan Lee from the BCA.
I hope that they print this all out in the next BCA rules and record book.

If I remember right, didn't it take a modern resolution video review to even catch the foul? If so that's technology that didn't exist on early runs, and if Mosconi fouled on ball 243 in a similar manner on one of his high runs we just wouldn't know about it.
Well they do it the same way. The BCA had a main committee of 7 people plus Bob Jewett that confirmed it. It’s best to just contact the BCA if you wanna know the details you are questioning.

I think the rack reset is to the advantage of the shooter compared to starting from where you're at.
The truth be known only 2 people of the 7 committee members the BCA thought a ball was touched. I fkrrw to Colorado and displayed the video on. 75 inch Tv for all of them to see. I replayed the shot in question about 10x and still only 2 people questioned it may have been a foul.
Now to this day there have been just over 2k videos sold and only 1 person has said they saw a foul.
Yes he certainly got paid and even got more sponsors so he is getting paid lots of dough 2 years after the high run. The previous guy (626) isn’t making a nickel and won’t release an unedited run to the public for all of us to buy and never will. Is he covering something up? Well he missed out on a 6 digit payday for sure. If he changes his mind he still could make a 5 digit payday for an unedited video and I’ll pay $1,000 for it myself.

Mosconi started his 526 high run after the person he played ran the first 3 balls. Again the BCA recognizes the 714 as a high run under their own rule #21 and 669 under WPA Tournament rules. I hope they print it in the next BCA rules and record book as such. If you wanna question anything just contact the BCA. I know all the details as I was there from start to finish.
