Jayson Shaw in the Hunt for Another 14.1 Record

Luther Lassiter had that same style. As the world's best ball pocketer and a less than classic pattern player, it made sense for him, and he won a lot of tourneys with that style.

Joe Balsis is one of the most forgotten superstars in pool history, perhaps because he disappeared from the competitive scene for so many years. I was present when he reached the final of the World Straight Pool Championship at age 59. Some young upstart named Sigel took him down in the final.
I heard Miz say one time regarding patterns, every ball is worth the same one point, lt doesn't really matter how you get them off the end of the rack is all accounts.
hmmm, I disagree.

If you watch his CB he is doing very purposeful things with it on the majority of his break shots. You can tell by the way it tracks off the stack.

Yes, until it doesn't. He has more the once scratched off his own set up break shot for a run of zero.

I think Jayson is just on another level as we've seen 4 pros take a wack at this competition and he's blown em all out of the water with the volume of big runs
Well, he does run a ton of balls rather fast. But I am not sure that the table he is playing on now has been played on by the other competitors, I believe that it was said this was a new reworked table. Also, was the table on which he ran the record the same one as the other competitors were using? I thought that set up was also a bit different as well. Not being controversial - just repeating what I believe that I had heard or what I see.

Hundred ball runs on this table for someone of Jason's caliber are not really a big deal. The pocket size and configuration is absolutely no challenge for him to pocket almost any conceivable shot on the table. You can see him barely focusing on OB aiming points, so he is not wasting focus energy there at all. He can play out of pattern almost at will bc making a shot is not a factor for him on this table.

His focus is on opening the balls, keeping the CB free, getting a break shot, and not scratching- doing those four things for him on this table and 100 ball runs are a given. I hope that he hits the 500 mark today!

Far as I knew it was the same table and didn't hear anything otherwise until your post

Oh man, made the break ball but staring at a fully intact rack.
At 21 racks right? I remember seeing that breakshot come up and thinking that’s pretty straight. Making kids lunches and looked down spread some Nutella, when I looked back up Jayson was just staring at an undisturbed rack.

Do you remember how he hit that break shot?

Gained more respect for this dude watching how he handled it. He sat down and looked disgusted for about two minutes then got up and racked the balls. Took a few seconds to clear his head and then just started shooting.

Shoot, I recently caught myself saying “good enough” on a practice shot I was trying to make 5 times in a row. To mess up on your 295th shot and the get right back up to do it again exemplifies a tenacious, passionate, and dedicated spirit. He’s not a slave to the grind; he embraces it.

Let’s go Shaw!

Well, right -- not everything can be controlled perfectly and sometimes that will happen.

Up until now there was a GC3 used by all the players -- that one got sold and is now in Springfield, MO.

Now we're using a GC4. Having seen a close-up of the pockets I would say they are very much the same. And as you say, the pockets are almost immaterial -- he’s drilling the vast majority of his shots center pocket. I've only seen a couple wobble in.

I was at the Crucible and I was shocked how big the pockets were.
I’ve reported that I’ve played on snooker tables in England and Germany both in pool halls and more private settings, and none were as tight as what I played on in the US. Still tough pockets, don’t get me wrong, but for some reason every full 12’ size, Every English snooker table I saw in the US had incredible tight pockets. My home room, the owner got the table from Canada and must have opted for tighter pockets. If he had opted for normal pockets, maybe more of us would have played the game.

It was stated in the opening post here that a GC 4 was set up for this attempt.
That is known.
What I said was all the pros that have tried, have tried on the same table Jayson broke the record on. He has had high volume big runs on the same tae as svb Earl and ruslan.

And that I think Jayson is just in a different league among pros in ability to make so many high runs

The Legends of Pocket Billiards table has been moved into a private room at Street Lights Billiard Academy. A GC4 has been setup and we will now have two cameras rolling to record the action. Jayson's attempts will be streamed live and free, August 22-26, for 12-14 hours a day.

Why do we care? Let’s move on.

How do we watch...?

Where is your home room with a snooker table? CM's?
