Hello! Jayson Shaw posted on FB that he is looking forward to playing for Team USA in the MC. He sounds serious about it, saying this has been his homeland for the last nine years. Pretty soon Shane and Skylar will be the only holdovers left from past teams. Who's next, Roberto Gomez? This is getting more interesting by the day.

Is that on the square? I thought it was a humorous comeback on Fedor's deal. If he is playing for US that's huge for US MC prospects.
 
This is pretty hard to believe. Jayson has been the most passionate and most animated player on Team Europe for a few years now. He is also a two-time Mosconi MVP for Europe. Would he really switch sides in a year in which the Mosconi is in London?

AZB headline news doesn't confirm this selection, and until they do, I won't believe it.

Considering Jayson’s USA photo has exactly the same shirt wrinkles as Fedor’s photo, and the body isn’t today’s Jayson (who seems to like the American pasta), it’s just a photoshop that Jayson is using to wind people up.
 
Jayson and Darren Appleton had quite the conversation about this while commentating the finals or semis of the recent tournament at his room in Connecticut.

Jayson said he gets people asking him about it all the time and he would never play for team USA.

Most should know he would not switch.
Most should know MR doesn't announce team members a couple days apart.
Most should know that wasn't a MR post.
Most should know Jayson likes to stir up shit.
It was moderately funny, but tragically effective at fooling the most gullible among us.

Plus, the photoshopped picture of Jayson makes it look like he has cancer. Jayson's shoes weigh more than Fedor!
 
No big deal, just Shaw having fun and being a little bit of a smartass. He wants to win.
I edited to correct ass to smartass, he’s just sticking the needle in a little bit. I don’t think it will have much effect. Gotta be pretty tough to get in Gorsts head.

Thankfully it is a hoax. European national team sports are a huge thing and it is a huge honour to represent your country, so it would be almost unthinkable for a proud Scotsman to switch allegiances, whichever country he lives in.
As an aside the Mosconi is the only pool event that anyone outside of pool would even potentially recognize, so if Shaw switched to the USA team it would certainly devalue the event to those UK viewers who tune into Sky to watch the Mosconi Cup once a year.

So the question is, did Jay get hoaxed or was Jay just spreading this rumor when he posted / started this thread?

Let’s be honest, barring a huge upset, team USA needs considerable help to even be competitive at this point with team Europe in the Mosconi Cup. Between Jayson and Fedor, that would go a long ways to making this a much more even contest.

I think a lot of us got duped early on. AFAIK JS is still playing for U-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-up. ;)
 
No idea about Jay starting the thread. As far as the cup, we always had a chance. Our chances are better now.
 
I just looked for the original thread, started by Benjamin way, it’s gone. I think he said Hoax, in post #1
