Jayson Shaw Shoots 227 Record - Vows to Leave US Pool

I was assuming he was a little frustrated, his FB messages didn't indicate it though.

I suspect he's just coming to terms with where his relative strengths may best be rewarded.

I sometimes aver that the rotation games, especially 9-ball are very break and safety dependent and those are not the dominant aspects of his game.

True that he'll be facing some very strong opposition in Chinese 8 ball, but I think he'll be among the elite with a bit of practice. He was an outstanding English 8-Ball player, so patterns won't be a problem for him.

Agreed on all points but i can't see him being suited to chinese 8 ball either. Sadly for shaw, i suspect he's not perfectly adapted to any current cue sport.

Well, he's a World English 8 ball champion, but not much money in that. I suspect he'd go close to being the Speed anything world champ. Say a 10 second time clock per shot in any sport. I doubt that will be a big money sport though.

I've never seen anyone who can find the line of a shot so quickly and execute a quality shot within a few seconds so well.

No comments or confirmation of his 227 run? Sounds like a pretty freakish effort for a guy who has hardly played that game. I imagine he was running around the table.

He ran it a few days ago at Derby in the 14.1 qualifiers. Mika had the second highest run at 224. Orcullo had a 197.

Impressive runs considering the sample size of chances plus the fact some of these guys haven't played much str8 pool. You wonder how long it may take given a larger sample size to approach 500?, and then..

He was blackball world champion, but im not sure of his pedigree at english pool per se. I cant see world rules suiting him, so would think chinese rules would be good for him.

I would pay to watch 10 sec time click pool. I play at that pace and expect everyone else to, too.

:sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

Im selling my diamond table

do you win much

Someone is going to get a sweet deal on a brand new Diamond table!!
haha!

Who cares who leaves "pool" to do whatever...

:wink::):D

I remember when Mike Davis retired from pool and when Larry Nevel quit to learn the CNC machine.

Jayson,
Pool was good before you showed up and will be just as good after you leave. You are a great player, but if you don't like it here then GO

The Derby is probably one of the hardest tournaments to win IMO. Jason when he is on shoots lights out but I think his fast pace , 1 stroke style can hinder him in some situations especially when things are not going his way.
As far as him playing Chinese 8-ball I wish him the best if that is his decision. There is no Professional Tour in the United States and sometimes you have to adapt and go where the money is. I think Corey is doing the same thing.

Later bro. If you want to leave then leave but to make a spectacle of it and announce it...a little self important.

I was reading on facebook that sometimes people post things on their "walls" when they are upset and come to find out they were just venting..to their friends ...or out of frustration and it shouldn't be taken to seriously.
Election time can be especially bad!! Haha

I think your criticism of the vehicle is inaccurate. It is Facebook, what's more focused on self than that?

Not that it changes the level of fukcs pool is gonna give when any single player is removed.
