Jayson Shaw v Corey Deuel 8ball race to 21 on July22 - A mismatch ?

Soft breaking in 8 ball is not the best thing to do, although I really hope there is some type of random rack rule, or at least the regular rules are enforced. The WPA and BCA rules specifically state that the balls in the rack need to be in random order, no idea why tournaments don't enforce that.

Actually, soft breaking is a big strategic move! Depending on the players, it can be the deciding factor. Corey can out move jayson easy, but Jayson can out shoot Corey! That being said,,,,, it just depends on who shows up and how one fades the other.

I personally think it's a toss up, but if Corey plays the defensive 8 ball, Jason is in for long match:)

Honestly, I would pick Jayson Shaw against Corey in anything EXCEPT 8-ball.

If we were to recognize one player that has developed new ideas in our sport, it would be Corey. He is the epitome of "thinking outside of the box."

Is this an exhibition with no real money on the line?

If so, then I don't think they will lay it on the line. If there was something at stake I would take Corey if someone gave me 2 to 1.

Yeah, you should have em' lining up to give you 2/1.

Good Luck with that.:speechless:

I don't think a soft break in 8 ball with two equal players is good, if you enforce a random rack. If you have a good player vs a bad player, or can stack the rack, then you may have some options.

When we had that league in RI at Chalks, there was someone that was using a soft break on me in 8 ball they said because I was a better player and they wanted to leave me tied up so I cold not run out. It did not work though since a better player can out-move the other with shot making and safety and patience.

sorry if I overlooked it, but is the match on a 9ft or barbox?
Hopefully not barbox . Last year Kamui was 9ft
I won't touch any barbox with 9 foot pole

I think almost everything CSI is now BB..... except the 1P

This is as close to an even match as it gets. No way Jayson is a big favorite in this.

If this is rack your own, winner breaks, Corey has the edge.

I think in 8ball, pattern more important than rack pattern :D
The pattern king is Darren. Actually most of the English8ballers like Meiling, Potts are great patterners

I will take Corey for $50....
Sorry, you caught me late, I quit gambling in my school days

Ok so CSI Kamui Challenge this year 22July pits Jayson v Corey in 8 ball race to 21
IMHO, Jayson is a favorite in this one and is not an even match . I mean this Jayson guy has been playing blackball/English 8 ball ( you know the 8ball that uses small tables with small balls 7 Reds,7yellows and 1 black) all his life, is ex-world E8b champ until few years ago when he switched to American pool .
A more even match will be 9 ball . On current form Jayson may just blow away Corey on 8b and 10b. Ironically Corey may be fave over Jayson in snooker LOL
In 8ball I would like to see Jayson play SVB or Orcullo or Efren
I like 8ball and would still watch this match though since there are so few 8 ball events these days. So sad considering 8 ball is by and large the widely played and most popular cue sports with most players in world . 9b involves flukes , 10b depends a lot on break so you could say 8b is fairer.
Bring back 8ball

This is in no way a mis-match playing 8 ball............

Hopefully not barbox . Last year Kamui was 9ft
I won't touch any barbox with 9 foot pole ...

CSI will have 9-footer(s) on site for the American Rotation Championship, so the match could be on a 9-footer.

But since the U.S. Open events there will be on 7-footers, they may want to use one of those as sort of a promotion for the upcoming Opens.

So, I don't know what size table it will be on. The CSI press release and their website material on the match do not say.

[P.S. -- No need for a 9-foot pole on a Smallfoot table.]

I would have to agree except for 1 pocket. I think Corey would school Jayson
I think this is a pretty even match up

With Corey, on a bar box, in a rack your own, with no rules against pattern racking...see 2014 U.S. Bar Table Championships.

I predict a very good match here. In case no one else noticed Corey has been playing well for the last year or so, with multiple wins and high finishes. I'm not sure he's even an underdog here. I'm pretty excited about this match and get to see it up close and personal. It will be live streamed and yours truly will be there, mic in hand.

The master has spoken. The rest of you Corey doubters should take his advice.

Nick

The smaller the table the more Jason wins by. Have you guys seen him smash the World UK Blackball champs on a 7 footer?

Corey's my favorite US player, I wish him luck. I've played against Jayson and seen him progress in the big ball big pocket games... I'd be surprised if Corey wins more than 40% of frames!

Last time I saw Jayson play on a bar table, i'm pretty sure he went 2 and out (or close to it) and got put on tilt. In fact, Corey won that tournament.

That's the other reason this is a very close match.
Corey very seldom goes on tilt, and if he does, he gets over it quickly. Jayson, on the other hand, can go off 3 or 4 times in a set, and will start to steam......
If that happens, this will go quick.

Once,I saw Corey runs 2 racks in a row playing 8ball at 7footer:eek::eek:
So that's why I can imagine him to loose this match:wink:
