Jerry Briesath’s Instructional DVD’s

Would it be possible to put together a couple of 30 second clips on a few of the topics discussed and post them on your site or YouTube as sample content?

Hmmmm, that is a tall order for me but I will try... I will see if I can find something for you.
But sadly I'm GREEN when it comes to doing searches.
Oh my goodness, I sooooooooooo Rock!!! I found this it's an old one but it will give you an idea.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpbNlnS9GFk

Here is a write up about Jerry's DVD too

When the most recognized name in pool needs a tune-up, she calls Jerry Briesath. And while Jeanette, The Black Widow, Lee may be Jerry’s most famous student; he’s made thousands of pool players of all levels better.

“Jerry’s the greatest teacher I’ve ever met. He teaches with patience and passion. His depth of knowledge and enthusiasm are inspirational. He understands the stroke fundamentals like no other. I love Jerry! He’s my “go to” guy for sure.”
- Jeanette “The Black Widow” Lee

Jerry’s taught many of the game’s top players. He was instrumental in starting the Billiard Congress of America’s (BCA) instructor program. Which is now The Professional Billiard Instructor’s Association (PBIA). The BCA gave Jerry the honor of being the “Dean of Master Instructors.” He’s also an American Cue Sports (ACS) Level 4 Instructor (the highest level). Now, Jerry presents the most informative and exhaustive instructional DVD set in the world. Learn the same techniques he teaches the pros. This set includes more than 4 hours of instruction on more than 50 topics (and thousands of dollars worth of lessons). You’ll learn:
•THE FUNDAMENTALS: Stance, grip, bridge, stroke, break and aim.
•MANAGING THE CUE BALL: Spin, tangent lines, speed trade-off, position.
•BANKING AND KICKING: Making it all make sense.
•DRILLS: Fun games and simple tricks to quickly improve your game.
•FIXES: How to fix the flaws that cost you games.

It’s all here. Jerry Briesath blends his easy-going style, demonstrations from himself and World Class Player and Master Instructor, Mark Wilson (one of Jerry’s students) plus easy to understand graphics to help players at all skill levels benefit from what he’s learned and taught for many decades.

“If you asked me to endorse other instructors I could only provide about five I feel confident about. All of these instructors have been previous students of Jerry’s and have trained and learned from the man considered the “father of modern pool instruction.” I am very honored to be invited to participate in this instructional video that will be Jerry’s enduring legacy to the sport he has devoted his life to and loves.”
- Mark Wilson

"Jerry Briesath is one of the most enthusiastic, most patient, and just plain best teachers in the history of pool. If these DVDs do not help your game, take up ping-pong or cribbage."
- George Fels, Columnist, Billiards Digest

More about Jerry Briesath:

•PBIA Master Instructor
•Founder of the Jerry Briesath Pool School.
•Instrumental in the creation of the BCA Instructor Program.
•Voted the nations top instructor in every top ten list of best instructors

Hope this helps
Let me know

I'm home...and beat up! What a great show! Taught tons of people to jump, and sold lots of Jump cues/DVD's and even a few Bobble Balls!!!
All in all it was a great trip....now to get my husband to feel my pain...and buy me ice cream :)

Drake watched Jerry's DVD's and came to the BCA to watch the Pros. He enjoyed hanging out...all I can say is thank you to all the Pro's who let Drake know... His MOM is a legend :)
Drake called last night...and really sounded like a very proud young man.
Too cool!!! Thanks to all the pros...for letting my kid know his mom has a little super-star in her too. ;)

Drake watched the DVD's and then went to Vegas...the pros say...Drake...you still need time on the table.
He is loving the game...Jerry's DVD's really helped him understand pool so much better...still his game is a work in progress but at least the lights are on. ;)

Who would have thought after watching Jerry's DVD Drake would start shooting pools for hours and hours a day.
Personally I think its a perfect fit...as an actor there is down time...Drake can shoot pool all over the world.

Sent You A PM Earlier.....

OK....Count me in too.....just sent you $60.00 via Paypal.....rounding out your payment makes the transaction just so much easier to financially reconcile.

One more time! :)

I posted this review a few days ago in a different section of the forum, but I feel it is worth copying and pasting into here. So here it is:

My review of the DVD set...

I own a number of instructional DVDs. I can't find an instructor that lives within 50 miles of me so I have resorted to books and dvds. As such, I have wasted hundreds of hours reading books that didn't really live up to the expectations or hype, and videos that have also not lived up to the reviews.

This review is not to tear down the books and DVDs that I have not found useful. The only DVD set I found useful prior to Jerry's was "Mike Sigel's Perfect Pool." That set did a very good job of explaining the fundamentals. But since the master is not really an instructor, and the guy helping the video move along is better known as a pitch man...the dvd video is not perfect. However, I will say it's a worthwhile purchase.

I will preface this by saying the best book on fundamentals is by far Lee Brett's book. And I have read nearly 50 books. All the classics. Lee's is great. I am awaiting his video so I cannot pass any judgement on it. That being said...

if you really want to get the most you can out of one set...save all your money, leave the time tested books behind, forget about all the pros that have lent their names to instructional sets. This DVD set by far the best set I have ever encountered. I expected so much of this set do to the banter on this site that I kind of expected to be let down. ..I was surprised that it surpassed even my most optimistic expectations.

It seems that many, many people equate great talent at any given task with the talent to also pass this gift on to others. This is rarely the case. Eddie Van Halen might be great, but he might not be the best guitar instructor. Mike Sigel may be great...but having the gift to convey this wisdom to others is not his strongest attribute.

In most cases, the best teachers for any subject are generally teachers by profession, and exceptional at what they teach.

This is definitely the case with Jerry's DVD set. I have never seen him in a tournament against Appleton or Reyes. I don't have any of his books. He reminds me of my grandfather. However, he is to pool instruction what Reyes is to playing the game.

Jerry has found a way to deliver deceptively complicated principals and fundamentals in a manner that is so well done you're not even aware of the knowledge being imparted to you. Moreover, the delivery is exceedingly accessible and applicable. To watch him, he is a humble man with a near permanent smile and a visibly sincere joy and love for showing people how to play the game.

I learned more from 5 hours with this set than with probably over 1000 hours of a few professional lessons, books, and dvds combined. I actually plan to go back and watch it with a notebook.

Prior to watching and absorbing the wisdom contained in this set I was happy to have a 6 ball run in 8-ball. I'm just a banger by all means. I ran a rack in 8 ball once in my life. ...After seeing this video I ran a rack of 8 ball twice in the same night. Now...to all you players out there that can do this with ease....cut me some slack. I enjoy the game, but I could never get past the plateau I was on.

Jerry's video explained to me three things that immediately changed my game and how I play it. I finally got a total understanding of the "correct" stroke. I know those of you that can do this, or are in a circle with people that know how to do this, think nothing of it. But in my circle, it was great to learn. I also learned about "tangents" wich improved my cue ball control from "lucky leave" to "wow!" Lastly, I learned a lot about physics.

So there you have it. I would purchase this DVD set if it were 200.00 easy. I spent more than that on lessons and got nowhere near as much out of it as I did from this DVD set.

Jerry should be commended for this undertaking. When I read all the hullaballoo about this dvd being a classic and a bookmark in Jerry's legacy I thought to myself, "that pretty creative marketing." Now, having watched and learned, I couldnt agree more. This set belongs up there at the highest echelon of pool instruction. In fact, I would say this is the best. A set like this is many years overdue.

Congratulations. My most sincere thanks for this set. Where was it 20 years ago?

So there you have it. Abandon any reservations you may have had concerning this set. if you're on the fence about it, jump off. if you didn't even consider buying it...you better.

Yes Indeed.....

I received my video On Saturday and went thru the entire video that night (last night). First and foremost is was this video really worth the price?

Yes....for $60....there's definitely helpful information or reminders about what it takes to better control a table...........I liked a couple of his suggested drills, especially the 14.1 drill. There's 3 Discs......I viewed every topic completely.....didn't fast forward or skip any and in fact, replayed portions of different segments several times.

Disc 1 for me was helpful reminders on the fundamentals that we let slip away and Jerry's teaching style is very simple. I enjoyed his explanation of Tangent Lines which was a good refresher but the lesson on Hangers.........it was something I had never fully appreciated.......I now know how to avoid the awful side pocket & corner pocket scratches shooting hangers......... and to think I thought my problem has been poor cue ball speed control....Duh? I have a better appreciation now on how to play hangers.

Disc 2 gave a concise synopsis of the 30 Degree Rule which I had never seen explained before, especially with the Spock like finger move.......cute technique.......and I had never previously heard about the 4" Rule which was also interesting ......and he's right....I tried it today and the cut doesn't affect the cue ball unless you had applied side spin.....Oh yeah, here in the US we prefer to call it english........just an inside joke to see if you were paying attention if you've seen "A Pool Lesson" by Jerrry Breisath.

The kicking & banking lesson was really helpful because I never knew how to allow for a new cloth vs old cloth on a shot........Of course, I knew from actual play there's a difference but never understood why or the 3rd diamond's significance. However, what I would have liked to also see was a lesson on 2 & 3 rail kick shots that do arise when your opponent deliberately, or accidentally, hooks you.......avoiding that dreadful ball in hand giveaway that costs you the game is as important as the stop shot.

Disc 3 had some more terrific reminders for me but I most enjoyed the Cue Ball Close to Object Ball Lesson which is really helpful playing a bank shot......that was worthwhile......as well as the What's Possible and What's Not Lesson......that was good too. I would have liked to also see a lesson on how to shoot at a object ball when the cue ball is frozen on the rail so you really only have the forward sphere the cue ball to strike. These shots are typically played using center ball but sometimes english is needed. I'd like to have heard Jerry's comments on how to play those type shots and also frozen object ball bank shots to both side pockets and corner pockets.

Summary

For the price, this video provided me many excellent reminders & tips that were certainly not in the forefront of my memory bank..........And at the same time, I also acquired up some helpful, new knowledge I didn't possess..........and Jerry's arrangement and presentation of the information in each lesson was concise and clear so I didn't lose interest even hearing information I already knew. Overall, it was a pretty good video and I think worth the price, especially for beginners and intermediates. Even more skilled levels would benefit from exposure to these lessons.

Thank you Matt, I'm still on my first one...I want to own the information....to teach in a way the player gets what I say and can begin to apply it to their game.
It also makes me feel great....I do a whole lot right in my lessons now. Nice to hear from one of the best in the country!

Missed chance of a lifetime...

Hi Robin- I am glad you are doing such a great job in trying to sell Jerry's DVD's. I had met you at the SBE this past March and found you extremely knowledgable and nice. You probably remember me I was the one who won your DVD and jump cue and told you to keep the DVD to sell because I had previously purchased it.

I love Jerry's dvds the information is incredible. About a month ago Jerry was in town visiting a friend of his and offered 2 full days of pool school. The cost was a reduced rate at $250.00 for 2 days. That was an insane price!! Unfortunately I had hurt my back the week before and could not even bend over a pool table. It killed me to not take 2 days off from work and go to his clinic. I just hope he comes to visit again and offers the pool school again. If Jerry reads this tell him next time he comes to Maine and is doing a clinic please announce it on AZB or FaceBook. I just happened to find out about his clinic by accident. Thanks Chris

Thanks for all you do for the game. Safe travels to you.

Far and away the best instructional video of any kind I've ever purchased. If you're a pool/billiards enthusiast, this DVD set is a must have.

Jerry Breisath Pool School for $250

You lucky son of a gun.....I'd glady spring for that after seeing his video.....his teaching style was very clear and concise....I couldn't hope for more than that with any teacher/instructor.

So its clear to everyone when I did see Jerry at the Allen Hopkins expo and he told me he made a 3 Disk DVD set...my brain went ....oh this is SOOOOOOOOOOOO a product I can sell!!!
Well I'm happy to say I've ordered 220 copies and I'm under 80 left...
I've also sold 1600 of my own DVD's Mastering the Jump Shot.
I'm not the greatest seller but if I like it, I get very excited to share with everyone what I think.
Thanks for your input...I totally agree!

Return

My very first return!!! Bummer!!!
Guess PO Box won't work...must have an address.
But it is off again, hopefully this time it has a safe arrival.

I'm thrilled that Jerry put the info in his head onto his new Instructional DVD's!!!

I worked with Jerry a few years ago, he helped me with my teaching skills.
Now I have a library of information. Anyone else get lessons from Jerry?

I've sold out of my second order...I'm now on my third...how sweet is that...I have a "Soft Sell Product".
I love it, First time EVER!!!

I asked Jerry if I could market his DVD's (I'm no dummy) and he said YES!
He knows I love to grind :)

Personally I hope to dissect the 3 DVD's for myself, if I could learn how to teach like Jerry in my lifetime I would LOVE it!!!

Blew the 100 out of the park....second 100 sold old too... and under 100 again for my 3rd...so the question is...do I Rock or does Jerry have a great product?!!!
