Jim Murnak case and the long wait.

I was one of the first to order and I think I was told 6 weeks and it took like 10. As the others have said, it is absolutely worth the wait. Any wait would be worth it, you will not regret it.

I just ordered one a few weeks ago. I did not ask how long, but am looking forward to receiving nonetheless. I also paid in full which is fine. It is a 3x6 soft case.

Jim does make a great case and is very polite, but he quoted me 6 weeks on a plain 1x2 and it took more than four months. Based on our conversations, I don't think he even started my case until a couple of weeks before it was delivered. My guess is that the larger, fancy more expensive cases take priority and much more time and the plain cases go on the back burner because it is much more rewarding for him to create a beautiful elaborate work of art, plus he makes a lot more money on those cases.

I don't fault him at all, but from a business perspective, I think he would be well-served by setting the expectations of his customers more realistically. If he did this, he would have few complaints regardless of the wait, because it would be understood at the beginning of the transaction.

I have one Murnak case and another on order. Prior to this, I had two of his holsters. In my experience, his work is always near perfect, and always late. The ONLY thing that I have a problem with is paying in full up front. Why not a healthy deposit? IMHO, if I have to pay up front and the order is more than a few days late then I should get a discount. In fairness, very few custom craftsmen that have current popularity are able to remain on time on their orders. I can live with that, but again I hate to pay up front for an order that isn't even close to on time. Just my $.02

Jim, if you're reading this, I'm only speaking my true feelings. You're still a nice guy, just a bit off on your time estimates;) ...Tom

wow. that's a long time for a case.

i prefer something plain and non-descript looking so people don't assume i'm a league player :)

I have to thank everyone for being so understanding. I have been bogged down for the last 3 months or so with an incredible amount of very complicated cases. I have no excuses except that I have been trying to get help that I can trust and I have found a few guys that will help me get back to a normal time. I really appreciate the slack that everyone is cutting me. I have pretty much gotten rid of the really long back log and will soon be shipping on a better schedule. I can't tell by the forum names who you are but you should call me and if they are that late I will be able to give you an exact shipping date now and keep to it.

Jim
Jim, nice speaking with you today. Thanks for updating me on delivery time and all the hard work you do on such beautiful cases. I know I'll love my case when it arrives and can now understand how much time and effort goes into each one, especially like mine with the added tooling. Keep up the great work! Vinny

Murnak cases are so worth the wait! Not only are they gorgeous, but they're durable as well. I'm able to travel with mine without worry that my cues will be harmed. And the compliments never stop coming!

I just got my Murnak case from my wife for christmas. IT IS BEAUTIFUL! Fine work....and its easier to wait when you dont know its coming :)

But yes, Jim is a very nice guy and is very professional. He is also a solid player. The wait is not fun but the amout of art and craftmasnship that goes into these cases cannot be rushed. You will be pleased when you have it in your hands.
