I have a Porper 2x4 case and for the money it's a great case. It's not too heavy and the short and long pockets hold all of my stuff with room to spare. I've owned Justis, Thomas, Whitten, and It's George cases and the Porper suits me just fine. I used to think I had to have an expensive case, but I don't anymore.gatorcc said:Does anyone have either the Joe Porper Signature Series Vinyl square or oval case? I am thinking about getting one and was wondering what you all think about it?
Any opinions on a J&J Case?skor said:I used to own a 2x2 case.
It's nice and protective but I you can only insert the butt joint down which I don't like.
My case was bought 11 years ago, back then joint protectors were not that common, some cues will not fit in it with joint protectors as it is too short, other cues that have a thick joint won't fit either...
If you ask me, for the money there are better cases out there.
this is how the interior of the case looked like

Any opinions on J&J Cases?billyjack said:Not to offend anyone, but I was very disappointed in the Porper cases. I had a McDermott "Shooters Collection" 2X2, and went looking for a decent 2X4 under $100. When I opened a Porper and saw the raw uncovered foam under the lid, I closed it up and started looking elsewhere, as I knew that would bother me forever. I wound up with a used Instroke Buffalo for under $200 that I am very, very happy with. Look up John Barton's recent thread about winning a Jay Flowers style case, post #88. Sterling has a new case coming out, designed by John, that may be well worth a look- http://forums.azbilliards.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=561&ppuser=20861

Plus, they seem to accomodate a bit longer cue or one with joint protectors. I've had a 2 X 4 Giuseppe for seven years and it's been great. Good value for the money.
JB Cases said:Since Sterling was mentioned I guess I will take this opportunity to introduce Sterling's offering in this style of case. I think that you all will be well pleased with the new Sterling cases coming in.
I have taken the Porper style and expanded it a bit by using a polypropylene tube of our own composition and filling it with fabric and foam rubber. This provides a cushy interior protecting all the cue parts and an impact resistant exterior. The bottoms of the cases are now made with non-slip rubber. The straps on the case are also backed with rubber so that they stay where you put them.
The lids are also made of polypropylene tubing lined with foam rubber. This allows for longer cues and still provides excellent protection.
The bottoms of the cases are secured by wood and EVA foam so that there is no chance that a cue can poke through the bottom. (many of you know this experience) Cues are protected securely from any damage to the pins or any other part. Essentially this is the same interior that I have developed and am shipping with the JB Cases. The cases will hold 31.5" easily at zipper level and 32" if the cue sticks up above the zipper a little bit.
Here are some pictures of the new and improved Sterling classic cases -
This is the STH5BK 2x3 - $69 or street price about $55
